Cute place, and they do a nice job with the charcuterie boards. We often get the regular meat and cheese board, and it includes some other goodies like jams, relishes, olives, etc. I've gotten some of the sandwiches too, and they're not bad, but in my opinion th boards are the star. They do have a nice beer and wine list too. Staff is always nice, definitely worth checking out, especially if you're hitting a shot at Popejoy after!
We visited Salt and Board on May 28 for my wife’s birthday. The food was excellent and our server was attentive and professional. All around great experience.
Really nice, chill place with a relaxed, no fuss atmosphere and a good wine list and beer selection. Half price wine bottles on Mondays is especially nice. Our server was having a rough work day, but she pulled through it magnificently. I wish I had asked her name because she was fantastic and seemed to be running the entire place single handedly. Having worked in food for most of my working life, I was incredibly impressed.
If you are looking for a delicious yet different experience....Salt and Board is the place to go. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and the food is superb ? they have lots of great wines to choose from as well. I highly recommend this place for couples or groups of friends. I'm not sure kids would enjoy the food that much especially if you have picky eaters.
I had high hopes for this place, finally was able to check it out. First of all, service is fantastic, it’s the best thing about the whole place. I would call it an upscale college bar with upscale bar food. The first thing I would do is get rid of those steel chairs, they are super uncomfortable. The kitchen is slow, so be prepared to wait a little while for your food. Not a biggie, just don’t go there in a hurry. It’s a cool space but it gets pretty loud in there. The food is good, but not what I was expecting. I was expecting higher quality, like the meats that they use in their sandwiches and on their boards, just not A+ quality. It’s on a college campus, so obviously you have to keep your costs down, so I understand that. And college kids don’t want to spend a lot of money on dinner. But it’s a cool space, nice patio, and food is okay. It’s not going to win any James Beard awards and it’s not going to blow your hair back, but it’s a good place for small plates and they have a good wine and beer list.
I see so many reviews about the hospitality of the wait staff when my own experience was great! Such a shame! They were welcoming and warm. I think we need to be mindful of the times we’re all navigating and some places are going to be busy and can be understaffed. No need to be rude, just take a breath and order a glass of wine! Which was amazing. We got our bottle and myself and a few friends dined on an expertly crafted charcuterie board. Definitely recommend and will be returning!
Today, this 3rd try, after finding two local places closed during listed business hours, turned out to be the charm for us. Out of the range of beers and wines on offer, we chose chilled pint glasses of hazy Santa Fe IPA - refeshing. My small Board, I found impressive and delicious, and my guest's Italian sandwich satisfied and then some. We agreed our waitress did great, considering the many full tables all around, indoors and outside.
My wife and I are new to town and saw that this restaurant had good reviews on Yelp, so we decided to try it out for lunch. The food here is good - albeit the bread that accompanies the cheese board is a bit hard, and they definitely don't give you enough of it. But the selection of cheeses and jams is interesting, inventive, and everything pairs well. 4 stars for the food. What tainted our experience was the waitress - she did not appear to enjoy her job and decided to take it out on her patrons. A blonde 20-something who seemed like she had better things to do than take our order and made that very clear to us. Might be fine for some, but I draw the line of acceptable service at rude and uncaring. What's most upsetting is that this could be a 5 star establishment if the service was at least welcoming and polite. Unfortunately we won't be returning.
the staff is HORRIBLE. the food is amazing but the staff is so bad it’s questionable. our waitress didn’t give us water, tossed my plate at me while turning around, and we had to get up and walk to get what we needed. additionally, there were only two other small tables. the waitress left her shift without acknowledging us (despite the fact that we were holding the credit card up in the air for ~10 mins right in front of her) and when we asked a different waitress to help she gave us a look and said “k”. i am pretty impressed, while i have had bad service before, i have never had such rude and cold service before.
Nothing wrong with this place is how much food you get for the money. It's actually enormous. You don't need to order appetizers unless you're seriously hungry.Really really good food. I will definitely be back.
