I was traveling through this area while working. I decided to stop and visit ABQ. I served in the military in Albuquerque N.M. I used to frequent this restaurant often years ago with my military buddies.I was so happy to see that they are still doing outstanding. The town still loves them based on their amazing reviews. I just wanted to add to their five star list and let people know how great they are. The food is wonderful and still delicious. They have a extraordinary and very unique Date drink. I would highly recommend it. I have never tasted this drink anywhere else in the country. Apparently it is a family recipe but this date drink is delicious. Much more success and lots of love Sahara!
Great, authentic, and easy to find restaurant! Ordering at the counter is simple and quick. They’ve got quite the extensive menu of traditional middle eastern dishes. Whether you’re looking for sweet or savory, there’s something for everyone!I ordered the beef and lamb shwarma with fries and lemonade. The shwarma comes wrapped up tight, so if you’ve got to grab and go, they’ve got you set. Each was served up hot and fresh, and the lemonade was cool and refreshing. Check in for their specials each day as well!
Very good portions. Lots of vegan options. I had the Lebanese plate with a hummus. My rankings- 1. baba ganoush. Creamy, flavorful and light. 2. hummus. Excellent consistency but very salty. 3. rice and lentils. Plentiful in quantity but relatively dry and lacking of flavor. Went well with the other dishes. 4. Falafel. I don’t know what it was about the falafel but I just didn’t think it was very good. The pita was solid. I’d recommend Sahara and look forward to trying some of their other options.
This place is literally not good at all. We ordered food for to go and everything is hard and stale. Hummus looks not fresh at all. Tzaziki too sour! I’m sorry but I’ve been to authentic Mediterranean restaurants and I would never go back here. Everything is mid!
Moderately slow night in the dining room didn't hold the kitchen back from cranking the orders out. I ordered the beef/lamb platter and was served in under 15 minutes. The yellow rice was fluffy and seasoned beautifully. Stuffed grape leaves were lovely and my protein cooked perfectly. A+ and will be back
Was thinking of someplace with exotic tastes for a nice price and Sahara immediately came to mind. They have some great Mediterranean and middle eastern food that once you start eating you can't stop until it's gone. So if burgers and fries are not your kick today try some great food with one of the most friendly counter ladies I've ever come across.
I would like to give 5 start rating because the food is awesome especially Chicken tikka kabob is very delicious. The main person who takes orders is so generous and compassionate. He talks politely and friendly with customers.
Great food and quick service. I enjoyed the chicken shawarma dish. Large portions and great flavor. The dish came with hummus, a falafel, and dolmas as well as a salad and rice. I would definitely eat here again. A lot of door dash type delivery pickups while I sat and enjoyed my dinner.
For only $10, I got an amazing 'wrap-like' beef and lamb shawarma with a large side of fries. The meal was ridiculously delicious and unique in flavor. Very filling as well. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and go. I wish I lived closer.
The food here is beyond excellent. Ww moved here from the East Coast 18 months ago where I was a personal chef and I can say without reservation that this has been handa down the best culinary and service experience we've had thus far in this state.A humble restaurant with biggest flavors and warm generous service from the owner. I can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu and be greeted by the jolly man at the register. This place is a gem.
