This is the 4th or 5th time there. I want to stress that this is a family business. Our server was the wife of the Japanese sushi chef and in the back, a Japanese cook. We have always received great service and excellent food for a good price. This time, for lunch, we had a bento box and yellowtail sashimi- see the photos. The Bento box had tuna sashimi, 2 slices of fruit, lots of tempura (vegetable and fish), salad, grilled mackerel, and a bean salad. It came with rice and miso soup. The Bento box was $12. My wife had yellowtail sashimi for $12.5 with rice $1.5. BEST JAPANESE RESTAURANT IN TOWN. Also, they sell Japanese food products.
This is a place to go if you want great simple sushi. Fresh fish on rice, NOT slathered in mayo.Their prices are more than fair. Their curry ramen is excellent as is their tonkotsu (probably the best in ABQ).
It’s really good Hotpot lunch, we had 1/2&1/2 Shabu Shabu& Sukiyaki!! Two people for 1 price $24. The sliced beef is very tender!! (They also gave us miso soup.) We all loved the hotpot, will definitely come back to try other type of hot pot, bento lunch boxes, and curry plates.(Also they sale several Japanese drinks/snacks inside the restaurant!)If you want to try home style /authentic Japanese food, COME and Try this restaurant, you’ll love it too!!
We are so happy we tried this authentic Japanese restaurant. They have delicious brown curry, which is hard to find here! We got bento boxes, egg rolls ( Japanese style yummm) and the brown curry. Service was ok, but she was the only one for the whole place, but no big deal. They have a little section in the restaurant that is a tiny Japanese market. Picked up some goodies. We will definitely be back.
Good food. Nice to have authentic Japanese curry. If you want water to go with your food make sure you ask for it. Otherwise a pleasant experience.
I went to this restaurant for the tonkatsu donburi bowl, but I decided to get the tonkatsu ramen instead. Good serving of noodles, egg, ginger and corn. Very tasty broth and noodles. I also ordered some California rolls which were delicious. This restaurant is a humble Japanese restaurant run by masa. Lots of regular customers. Fast and friendly service. Go check them out. Authentic food.
The grilled mackerel is absolutely delicious. The shrimp tempura also great. The hot pot is really good as well. Portion sizes are very good and the food is all around well prepared. We've gone multiple times and will keep coming back!
We used to live in Torrance, California, where there are so many great authentic Japanese restaurants big and small. So we know what authentic Japanese food tastes like.Last night, for the first time, we took a chance and ate at Nagomi here in Albuquerque.Wow!!The food was absolutely great!I had no idea that Albuquerque, out of all places, has such a great, authentic Japanese eatery, owned and operated by a Japanese family. We had Chef's Bento Box which was superb. The one I ordered had grilled mackerel which was absolutely out of this world, succulent and tasty. This Bento Box also had great assorted tempura as well as tuna sashimi and California rolls. Everything was so fresh! This is not a fancy restaurant. It's very casual, yet cozy.I highly recommend Nagomi. The owner talked to us after we ate. He was so friendly and thanked us for coming!!
1st visit. Seated immediately. They are probably short staffed like everyone is, but moved at a reasonable pace nonetheless. Staff was attentive and personable. Extensive menu. Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Not much on decor or ambience, but that's only #3 on my list. Nagomi will go on our dining rotation.
