We loved our lunch here!!!!! Was the BEST NMex food we had while in the State (including Santa Fe).Very authentic and flavorful. We arrived around 1115 for an early lunch and the place filled up by noon.Check Mary & Tito's Cafe out when you're in the area - it's not far from the airport.
This is my second lunch at Mary & Tito's in 2 years. My husband liked the 1st dinner but I wasn't impressed. We went yesterday and we both had the corn enchilada with green chile, red rice and refried beans. I ate the chicken. The rice was okay and the beans okay but I left a plate full of food. it was a waste of money. The Mexican wedding cake was delicious and I gave it two stars but that was for the cake. We shared a piece of cake. It's a popular place but I guess it's not for us.
I originally gave Mary and Tito's a 4 star review, which for me is still pretty strong. But that was selling them short. With so many outstanding New Mexican diners and restaurants in Albuquerque, there are few I bother to return to, especially given how much I love exploring new to me places. Mary and Titos is one of a small handful worth returning to over and over in this embarrassment of New Mexican culinary riches. Lots of places in Albuquerque have excellent green chile. Many more have fantastic red chile. Few are equally adept at both, and again, Mary and Titos is one. I recommend ignoring the daily lunch specials and ordering off the regular menu. Desserts are also excellent and service always friendly.
We had also read rave reviews for this restaurant and were excited to try some ‘authentic’ food, but it was average at best. The red Chile was good. Salsa was so-so. Tasted pickled. The restaurant smelled of chlorine, which was a turn off. I understand keeping the tables clean but it was overwhelming, like I was at the public pool. I wanted to love this little place but the food was just so-so.
The chips and salsa were good—the salsa definitely had some heat. I had the special which was a beef taco and a chile relleno.
As someone who passes by this restaurant daily I am astounded at the reviews. My most memorable experience entailed:Very brief, snappy / that weird borderline of rude service even though I was in full-on kiss up and be nice mode. I didn’t break any rules here; they weren’t about to close and I didn’t modify food orders. The green Chile was inedible from being so hot, and I can promise as I eat both colored chiles all around town - the red Chile was not astounding either. I have never been served more onions in enchiladas. The space needs a cleaning. The photos uploaded on here say it all.Sysco truck food that is not done well is the only way to put it briefly. Seek New Mexican elsewhere if a tourist.
Quick stop for lunch. I was really impressed with the staff. They provided great recommendations. Personally anything with the red sauce is AWESOME. Parking is a bit tight be well worth the effort. I will eat here again.
Consistently good! That's their motto, or should be. Red or green, the chile is so flavorful, with some heat. Again, last Monday, they slathered it on my huevos rancheros until it's was almost running off the plate. Had to get an extra tortilla (also fresh) to sop up the remains. Authentic New Mexico soul food!
Had a great meal at this family run restaurant. We enjoyed our meal. Great place to try some really good New Mexcio dishes.
Dining here was an absolute joy. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the food is superb. I highly recommend dining here!
