We always look forward to our Ichaban fix when visiting the area. We have experienced friendly staff and great service every time. The menu is wonderful and the food is fantastic!
The food was good but the service was absolutely horrendous. They were busy but, we were completely ignored once we got our food. Not once did our waitress come to refill our drinks, ask how the food was or to simply see if we needed anything. Would not even bring out check. After waiting for several minutes once we were done eating, we finally got up and went to the front counter to ask for our check. What an awful experience. And since there were 2 children with us, making it a party of 7, gratuity was automatically added to the tab. That is usually fine but not with this kind of service. I do not recommend and will never return.
Salmon tempura was very good! The rest ok.
Always amazing!!!! Restaurant is super clean. They're very friendly and I love to get takeout! I get their lunch special with the salmon, veggie tempura, with the egg roll. It is so fabulous! I can't wait to sit outside and they're cute patio when it opens up.
Delicious Korean food! I know it's a Japanese restaurant, but I've always ordered from the Korean part of the menu, and I have never been disappointed!
This has been my go-to place for sushi since Japanese Kitchen Sushi Bar closed last year. They also have several Korean dishes which I enjoy, and they are all very well cooked and served. At the moment, probably one of the highest rated Japanese/Korean restaurants in Albuquerque. I hope they continue to serve with excellence for a long time to come!
The first time was about a year ago, which was before their remodel. For the first visit, I would have given 3 stars. I ordered soondubu jigae and it wasn't as flavorful as I hoped. The service at that time was also slow and our server was absentminded.My recent visit from just two days ago deserves 4 stars. My husband ordered the sashimi dinner and the cuts of fish were large, of great quality and very fresh. Both of us were surprised at the great cuts of sashimi. Totally worth the money.The Volcano roll, which got a lot of great reviews here, was not what I expected. It may be my fault though. I expected something spicy, considering it was called the "volcano" roll, but it was sweet and tangy. If you're in the mood for something sweet and tangy, give it a try. If you want spicy, this isn't it. Like I said, it's my own fault.The tempura udon was a nice surprise though. I expected a bowl with a few pieces of tempura in the broth, but it came with a full plate of tempura placed on top of the bowl. No soggy tempura! The batter was light and crispy and the shrimp and veggies were cooked perfectly inside. The noodles weren't mushy, but had a great chewy texture. The broth was good, but a tiny bit salty for me. There was nothing else in the broth, except the noodles and tempura bits. I was expecting a few slices of fish cake, green onions, mushroom or something.The reasons for not giving Ichiban 5 stars is the salty udon broth and the fact that there was nothing besides tempura bits in the udon. Otherwise, it was a great meal. The service was much better this time as well. I'll definitely be returning. Next time, I'll ask our server which rolls are spicy, instead of just going by the name.
Finally we found a place that serves Korean Food .... in Rio Rancho! They have Japanese food too ... including sushi.We added a little spice to the Bulgogi plate. And, for the price, you will not be disappointed.

Had the lunch bowl, teriyaki chicken, tempura vegetables, egg roll and fried rice. Oh miso soup also. Place was extremely busy, possibly short staffed, but service is as good, prompt. Food was delicious, hot and plentiful. New decor was nice, modem and comfortable. I noticed a back door entrance/exit. Good to know. I would recommend and will return !
