Been going to this place for many many many years and have only been disappointed once. I was foolish to order chicken fried steak in New Mexico but the waitress insisted that I could get something else. My half breakfast disaster burrito was amazing as always, I learned my lesson not to try something new haha ?
Such a lovely classic diner. Music is perfect and at just the right volume, AC is cool, inside is beautiful, and service is friendly. When I visited there was a sign on the door saying they would be closing after Memorial Day and that's truly a shame - plenty of regulars came in while I had breakfast, you can tell this diner is an integral part of the neighborhood.
Had friends from out of town visiting who tried to dine here on Sunday (Mother's Day) morning. They ordered simple breakfast burritos and waited over an hour. Over an hour. They asked if it was some subtle racial passive agressor thing as the diner wasn't busy.I assured them ABQ is very diverse and that probably wasn't the reason, but damn... 80 mins later and I had to wonder, too...Food finally arrived cold AND incorrect. One ordered steak and eggs, but was served ground beef, no eggs and cold. The other had eggs but also cold. Obviously the errors were not discovered until after a bite. When the server was informed, she only offered that they were short staffed with the manager on the grill. My guests were appalled at the service, the refusal to make things right, not even a lousy 10% off their bill but threats if they didn't pay up - the full price.Hey, if you're short staffed that's on you, not on your dining guests!I am mortified after talking up ABQ restaurants. This is not how service should be anywhere, let alone here.I'm not one for posting bad reviews lightly, but wow - this entire experience was inexcusable.
Very good food and good prices
Today I went to one of my favorite breakfast diners, Hurricanes Cafe. I ordered the Disaster Burrito breakfast style with chicken and potato gems smothered in green chili. As usual it was huge and delicious. The whole burrito could feed a family of four. Order a quarter or a half of a burrito it's still more than enough food for a normal appetite. The service was excellent. Give Hurricanes Cafe a try.
Food is so good and fresh. Wish it was located closer to home, so we could visit more often. Yumm
Consistently great greasy spoon cafe. The burrito supreme is supreme and the chicken sandwiches are satisfying and delicious.
Many many moons ago from my last visit and its still delicious. I was very envious of my boo's omelet. Shout to our waitress she was brilliant
I used to adore this place and wanted to come for my anniversary breakfast but I just walked out after waiting 40 minutes with no drinks… I ordered a simple water and placed my French toast order and after 40 minutes went by with no drinks I got my things and left. It was infuriating watching our waitress do nothing when it takes 1 min to bring water to a table. Unbelievable. I’ve never had worse service in my life.
I have a lot of good memories here but it’s not what it used to be. Miserable is a good word to describe it. Food was barely warm. There were decorative eggshells on top of my egg, but that wasn’t as bad as the bones in my enchiladas or the rock. The waitress didn’t check on me even once and i had to get up to ask for a refill on my coffee. Not still mad about it but have been sick with diarrhea all day. Feel like they plated my food under a trash compactor, and the best word to describe the atmosphere is filthy. Hopefully i will be better tomorrow, but I shouldn't still be feeling miserable at 2 am.
