This isn't the Grandma's I grew up with. When we pulled up, I noticed an exterior upgrade. I said I hoped the food hadn't been upgraded as well.Well, after being featured on the Food Network and Breaking Bad, yep, the food had changed.I ordered the chicken fried steak supposedly 'smothered' in cheese with Red Chile on the side. My companion ordered the enchilada plate with Christmas or red and green Chile.Food came and if my steak was smothered then I hate to see what they call a dab of cheese as there was a 50 cent sized cheese spot on my steak. My companion kept adding Tabasco sauce as her Chile was not hot enough. If you have seen this place on TV be prepared. It's not like it was in the past.Maybe they were having an off day but be warned.
This used to be a 5 star rating for me and my family we would go every weekend and knew the staff and they knew us too. As soon as we sat they already had our drinks down. The food used to be really good and the serving size was big. Now we go once in awhile and the food is okay and much smaller portions. Don't get me wrong if the portion size went down but kept the same taste and quality we would of still been going every weekend. They switched the salsa like 3 or 4 different times and when they finally did one I liked they switched it again the next time we went.
This place has been around for years and still to this day , one great place to get your grub on, first time I tried there bacon double , WOW! Was it a huge on seem like a 5 lbs ? burger ? man that ended up being 2 and 1/2 meals and it was delicious oh don't forget to add the green chili ?️ and you know what it could easily feed 2 at $13.00 no complaints what's so ever so do go hungry ,
I had to spend the day in Albuquerque for a medical consultation and needed a convenient place to eat lunch between appts. This was not far from Presbyterian Hospital. Since it ranked 4 /2 stars I had high hopes. It was average. Limited menu - New Mexican, burgers, and breakfast fare. The Pancho Mixed Plate (Mexican combination plate) was ranked highly yet not available. So my dining partner settled for a green chile chicken enchilada plate instead. Said it was ok. The beans were very good. I had a Denver omelette, which was also fine. It was touted as a “cheap eats” place but menu prices were much higher than what we’d seen online. The food was good but nothing special.
This is an amazing diner!!! They get you in, seated, and fed, extremely quickly without sacrificing service or quality. Has a rustic homie feel and with a mansion sized log cabin amount of space on the inside. The photos don’t do it justice.Lydia is amazing! Super nice, inviting, and boy does she hustle. I don’t think she stopped moving the entire time we were there.Extremely rare to find fantastic food and awesome service post covid. 5 stars all day!!!! A gem in the desert!
I had the Hungry Poppa Burger. Holy cow that burger was awesome. Biggest burger I've seen since a 2018 BBQ at my cousin's cattle ranch in Montana. The K&I diner is a sweet spot. Nice tables and furniture, great menu, fair prices, kind and attentive staff, quick service. If you're looking for a fun spot to eat this place won't disappoint.
First time here.. standard cafe food.. I had french toast. Decent. My companion had sausage and eggs w/ biscuit and gravy. Gravy was very peppery, but pasty otherwise. Made with water instead of milk? I'd like to come back at lunch.
I've been to this restaurant frequently over the years, I can't decide which meal I like the best. Sunday I had the biscuits and gravy, it was delicious as usual. No matter what I've ordered I always receive more food than I am able to finish. The servers are outstanding, I don't see how they are able to keep up with all of the orders. I recommend that you try this restaurant I'm certain that you will come back.
My favorite restaurant in ABQ!!! Food here is consistently delicious and cooked to the highest standards. Also, really cool down home atmosphere, wood rafters, statues, enjoyable art and posters in all 3 dining rooms. :)
I had the French toast with eggs and sausage. The food was really good. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee. I'm a coffee lover. If the coffee had been better then ya 5 stars! But that won't stop me from coming back because oh yes I will be coming back!
