I always try to stop by whenever Im passing by Albuquerque or visiting family. I love the Green Chille bread ? Also the customer service here is the best!!!
There is an angel here.Who calls bread into being each morning.Who prepares the calabaza, not sweet, spiced, for the empanadas. From puff pastry so light that it should not be possible in the desert. All baked in an oven that no longer exists. The Greeks called the angel πρακτική.Who will be with us for 130 years, but 84 of the years have already passed.Do not delay in coming.
I love the story behind this place. They were featured on Food Network Diners Drive-Inns and Dives and New Mexico True TV. The food here was delicious. I had a ham and cheese with chips and queso. The green Chile bread compliments the vegetables and meat in the sandwich. I would love to give this place a 5 stars but the staff needs to be trained better. We waited over 30 minutes for our sandwich, and by the time we received them, we got the wrong bread. Overall, I would highly recommend.
Took out a half dozen empanadas (different flavors but the sweet potato or pumpkin - not sure which) was my favorite. Also got some Mexican wedding cookies & biscochitos which were terrific (again personally I did the traditional flavors). Service was excellent. Staff were very patient and customers as well. Cute patio outside. Loved seeing all the masks being worn.
Everyone working here was so kind, friendly, and helpful. I didn't have an idea of what to order for breakfast and had everything described to me in detail along with some personal suggestions. Amazing experience all the way around, and amazing food! I wish I wasn't a tourist for the day so I could come back again! It is well worth your effort, and appetite, to come here.
Ordered the strawberry and raspberry empanada. It was very good. Felt healthy sweet without it being an overpowering sweet. (Side note: they do not sell egg sandwiches due to staff shortage. So ignore that portion of Google menu. It hasn't been updated.) Staff is super friendly and kind. Would come again.
Really good food. Friendly people. Loved sitting on the patio and eating our pizza. They gave us a cookie to try for our wait. Everything tasted fresh and really good. One of the pizza's from their menu on the website was not available because all the ingredients were not in season....Love that although I was looking forward to trying that particular one. A couple people in our group tried the milkshakes also and they liked them. I would recommend this place and will go back. It was good food and a relaxed experience.
Small gem with a great atmosphere and a wonderful outdoor sitting area. The pizza and milkshakes are awesome and the green chili bread divine.
Stopped here for a late lunch on our way to Arizona! When you walk in it smells of sweet cinnamon! Then you see all the baked sweets! Yum! We had sandwiches and they were delicious along with the fresh brewed flavored teas! The staff was so nice! We bought some sweets for the road!
We used their easy online ordering system and picked up at their counter just inside the front door. Service was excellent, friendly. Just figure that order requests should leave an extra 30 minutes for pickup , especially at busy times. The pastrami sandwich was our favorite, as well as their pizzas with excellent crusts and fresh vegetables on top. Very tasty pastries, so bring some home for breakfast next morning. An easy 20 minute walk from old town if you don’t have a car, Outdoor dining available in front on a quiet street. Good parking lot available.
