We have been to this location a few times in the afternoon and early evening. The food is good as is the service. We like to sit at the bar, converse and watch whatever game is on. For some reason the manager has decided that he needs to show music videos on the big screen. That in itself is not bad but I don't see why the music has to be blaring. It is impossible to talk and enjoy your meal. The first time we encountered this, we moved to a dining table far away from the bar. This just happened again and we just walked out. There are other dining options.
We found this restaurant on trip advisor and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever. Excellent queso, chips, and the world’s best margaritas. We also had world class service from our waiter Jerry. We will be back before we return to Kansas.
Greeted, seated, and served by José, who was friendly, prompt, and professional. Iordered the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. The only criticism would be the hashbrowns were lukewarm. The eggs were perfect for my requested over easy. Toast was huge and tasty, the chicken fried steak was superb with the green chilie chicken gravy highly recommend! Finished off with the pineapple upside-down cake which was good, though maybe not great; served hot against the cold ice cream which was delightful.
So many people rant and rave about this place so I thought I'd try it out....Definitely a no, if you've had New Mexican food anywhere else then this place is not for you, it's not even mexican food, it's what people who have never had mexican food in their life would think was mexican food. The "salsa" was like a red chile sauce that you'd put on a burrito or enchiladas, it was like they thought they did something, but really it was flop. The service was absolutely noteworthy in probably all the bad ways possible. Our waiter would answer our questions over his shoulder as he was walking off. He never offered more water or really checked on us. The green chile stew was ok enough, but The street tacos were just steak on a tortilla, not marinated, not anything special. If you're in the mood for something delicious and cozy place to eat, this is not it. Save your time, save your money.
I had a breakfast burrito with chorizo added and smothered with green chili. It was fantastic! Service is excellent- the staff are friendly and it had a great locals crowd.
Wow the red salsa is HOT!! A little warning would have been nice. Still very good salsa all together. Entree came out. We both got "street tacos" yummy. They give you 6 and you really only need 3. We took a full meal home. I expected to get sopapillas or at least asked if we wanted dessert. We didn't but still would have been nice to be asked. Food was good, not excellent but good. Service a bit squirrely. This is a "wait to be seated place in case you miss the chalk on the wall lol (I did ☺️)Food came before drink and the egg was missing. Foods getting cold while eggs cooking the enchiladas taste good but should I eat this while it's still somewhat warm or wait for the egg that doesn't seem to be coming ?Egg finally came, enchiladas are cold. But tasty?This seems like a cool place to come back and try again ?
We entered the restaurant hopeful because it seemed to have good reviews. Unfortunately, it was really terrible. Firstly they had no red salsa. When I go to get Mexican food, I want red sauce. The service was really lackluster. I wish I could say it was because they were crowded, but there were 6 people total in the place including us. The soda I got tasted like they used far less syrup to make it than needed. The food was all really either bad or just "meh". The chips were greasy and lacked salt. I would recommend you skip this experience.
I'll make it short and sweet. We were given a table as soon as we walked in, the waitress was very friendly and the green chile stew was amazing and definitely a little on the spicy side. Prices are reasonable and the restaurant is very clean with a nice feel to it! I'll go back for sure and give a recommendation if you haven't tried it. The Paseo location is the one to go to as I've had bad service at the Montgomery location on more than one occasion.
Service was great. Our server was personable and polite. The food was above and beyond good. Quantity was more than adequate. Sides were not necessary. BTW, the price on the combination plate was very reasonable.
