I live in Pennsylvania. I was in New Jersey visiting family. Last time we were here, my Aunt told us about Two Fish&Five loaves. We got the fried whiting and catfish. DELICIOUS!We came back for more...I chose the smothered turkey wing dinner.I waited to get back to PA, So I could sit and really enjoy...YOU DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!Those turkey wings were THE BEST I have EVER HAD! BETTER THAN MY MOM'S AND GRANDMA'S!!! YES! I SAID IT! If they were still alive I would tell them so!! (and then run. Lol)I HIGHLY recommend EVERYONE eat here !If you are visiting the area, eat there AND take food home wth you because you will want more! We took home 2trays of the fried Whiting! I really don't like potato salad, HOWEVER, I tasted theirs and now I am a fan! The cornbread...DELIGHTFUL!The greens...cooked and seasoned to PERFECTION. The yams...slap somebody!!Come and enjoy the food here!I promise, you will love it!May God continue to BLESS this fine establishment! Thank you for this food!!PS...too late to add a photo. I ate it all! ?
My family and I have been a Two Fish & Five Loaves customer for several years before calling to request catering services for a home celebration of the life of my only brother who I just lost. We were in a fog and had to plan for so many things in a short period of time. I spoke with Kevin and he kindly helped me determine the variety, quantity of food I needed and the delivery time. I was genuinely nervous over whether I did enough to create the rich celebratory environment for my brother. When I saw Kevin's colleague Que unfurl the table cover in such a professional manner, doubt literally dissipated and I knew all would be well. Not only was the day beautiful, sunny 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but EVERYONE said the food was absolutely delicious. I lost count of how many times I mentioned Two Fish and Five Loaves when asked who cooked this wonderful food.During one of the most trying times of my life and those of my family, Kevin, Que and the Two Fish and Five Loaves family - yes, family - not only comforted our stomachs but indirectly embraced us with love, wiped our tears and allowed us to celebrate the life of my brother, Michael. Should you find yourself in such trying times, I hope my testimonial helps you in your catering decision. God bless.
My first time there, I bought a lot of food to taste to see if its worth it. Let's just say I'll never go back its not worth it. They need to try Rockaway fish house in queens NY. Waste of my money at two fish five loaves.
In my opinion it is the best fried whiting in the State of NJ. Even after heating up my leftover fish the next day it still tasted fresh and delicious.
Definitely recommend. Any option near the $20 price range has enough of a portion to share between two people. The fish and chicken are freshly fried & the macaroni is home-made. Most meals come with two sides and cornbread.Food was ready within 20 mins.
Stopped in to support a Black owned business and it was HORRIBLE!CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS HORRIFIC, the guy who was taking orders was definitely out of his profession.I ordered the fish with 2 sides with Mac n cheese and yams. The Mac n cheese was old and had been microwaved with no cheese and plenty of egg mixture that looked separated from the noodles. The fish was cooked in old recycled grease and had a strong odor once I opened it up, the yams were bland.I checked my order once it was done and immediately told them to change the Mac n cheese to potato salad which was just plain with no real taste. This is definitely not a place that should claim to be a SOUL FOOD SPOT or anything else!Unfortunately I will never return to support this business!WBLS DEFINITELY SHOULD PULL THE COMMERCIAL THAT PLAY ON AIR!
Went here 2 weeks ago after ordering online. I ordered the whiting family meal with greens and mac & cheese. Extra side of potato salad. Half of the fish was re-fried (hard and dry) and the mac & cheese was very greasy. The greens were just ok. Did not care for the potato salad as I don't like my potatoes mashed. Needless to say I will not be back. Sad because it was just the opposite of what they advertise...freshly prepared food!
Went here for the first time and placed an order and waited for 25 minutes. It’s best to call in your order if you do not want to wait. I ordered the 6 piece fish sandwich with a side order of collard greens. The problem that I had was I only received 4 piece of fish and they were small a shriveled up. If the fish is deep fried you mush be doing it in batches. I prefer my fish to be laid out like advertised in your pictures. Mine were all curled and I was questioning to myself did I get a different fish other than whitting. The season was good the greens were great. Presentation is everything to me especially if I’m spending almost $20 for a meal. Would’ve gave 5 stars but I felt $5 for a side of greens should’ve been a bit bigger. Other than that it was tasty.
I dont know where to start, but I literally just stopped eating to give this review...If you really Love and know your Soul Food, you are a fool if you dont try this place out..I got a little bit of everything, chicken was fresh, cispy and crunchy, not overseasoned or soggy. Ribs were juicy and tender just the right amount of bbq sauce..Mac n cheese hands down the best glad I got a large order.. Everything was Delicious all the way to the cornbread..Ohh and Celebrity's with signed autographs Speaks Volumes on their hard work and dedication.Excellent Job??, Best of Luck, God Bless ??
This wasn’t a bad experience. I’m typically really critical of soul food not prepared by southern family chefs. The greens and cornbread were tasty, not over seasoned and not greasy. The fried whiting was just okay.
