I ordered a fried whiting dinner with potato salad and candied yams. The whitings taste like they were fried in old grease and the potato salad was awful. I was NOT impressed!

I ordered food from the soul food factory I had collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and fried catfish. The food was okay fish a little salty but fried very well and crispy not enough cheese in the macaroni and cheese and I decided to order dessert I ordered peach cobbler the peach cobbler did not look freshly baked I taste a half a teaspoon of it and it was sweet but it was soggy it looked like it had been in that container for one week or more it was soggy it just looked disgusting and I did not eat it and the guy asked me why I didn't want to take it with me I told him because I just didn't want it but he assists why I won't take it as good and I told him because it was soggy and it looked nasty and I would never order from there again.

My husband and I are very new to the area and decided to try The Soul Food Factory and oh my lord we are so glad that we did! That food was ohhhhhhh so good! The first thing I tried was the Mac n cheese because we all know that everyone can’t make Mac n cheese correctly lol. They are 100% APPROVED! from the Mac to the yams to the corn bread and those fall off the bone turkey wings …whewww yes we sure shall be going back!

I love this soul food restaurant and will look no further. It’s my 2nd time eating here and the food is amazing. The cook/owner John is such a sweet heart. I struggle with emotional illness and were having a moment today. John took the time to talk to me, offered me some wine and made me feel so optimistic and ready to tackle life. He had no idea how much better he made me feel. I did a root canal yesterday and expressed to John I had not eaten all day. He cooked my fish platter soft as he promised and I was able to finally eat. I wish John and his business the best of luck. Please support this black owned business!

My husband put me on this special place, Food is absolutely delicious ?. Always fresh and satisfying. Loved the East Orange location as well

If you want soul food, look no further. Each time I need my soul food fix I ask my husband to order from here. Food is reasonably priced. I love the catfish, mac\\u0026cheese and the calabash which is a cabbage/collard green mix (so yummy). My husband loves their oxtails with rice and cabbage. The corn bread is always perfect! The staff is friendly and management is great. They’re a family owned business and I wish they had more locations in the tri-state area but they provide catering so if you’re having an event soon, I’d definitely give them a call. I can’t wait until they reopen for indoor dining. They’re only providing takeout for now.

I order by phone yesterday my daughter picked it up she live in Union New Jersey I live in Jersey City first time ever eating at this restaurant I ordered Fried fish Whiteys macaroni and cheese collard greens and a side order of rice the food was very very salty except the rice just want to comment about this because a lot of people can not eat with a lot of salt in there food so be aware of those that can’t went cooking the next time ?Nooooo

The resturant claims to be open. It’s Sunday 3 PM. I placed an order went there to pick it up snd it’s closed. I called the store and was hung up on. Don’t waste your time here. Bad for you the soul.

I gave this establishment a negative review,as it deserves. Then, I went through the lowest reviews and the owner is horrible. He even responded to the negative reviews with his horrible attitude. There was one complaint about the front door being open but the customer wasn't able to get inside. His response was that the customer was somehow lying by saying that it didn't make sense that the front door was open and she couldn't get inside. That was my experience. The front door was ajar but the main entrance door was locked. I don't know why we continue to support people who are completely disrespectful to us. I will spread the word to everyone to never patronize this horribly negative, mean, ignorant man's business. I never ordered anything because of his horrible attitude. No one's going to disrespect me and get my money. He isn't even remorseful or sorry to anyone that gives him a negative comment. He just tells them to come back to spend more money and have another horrible experience. He is the owner, manager, cook. He is totally understaffed and greedy because he doesn't want to pay anybody. It should never take an hour to fill a soul food order. Everything is already cooked. Hire some help. Give people in our community some jobs. So we don't have to wait an hour for a takeout order. That's what the majority of the comment said. People are waiting an hour average for their orders. That is unacceptable. This whole establishment is unacceptable! I will never ever go back there. I will tell everybody to never ever go there. I suggest whoever is reading this to never ever go there. I have worked in hospitality for over 25 years and have never been treated so horribly! And this is coming from the top!

My Aunt had a birthday party and the food was catered from here. When I tell you everyone loved the food!! We had Fried chicken and fish. Baked Mac and cheese, yellow rice, rice with beans, candies yams, potato salad, greens, and cornbread. Everyone loved every last items that was catered. That is rare! It's taste like Sunday dinner yo grandmother use to make! The food was delicious!!!! I cannot wait to go back. Great job soul food factory!! 10/10 would recommend
