We came for a family dinner in August. The food was good and the service was attentive. However we felt that the waiter was pushing additional items to pad the bill - things like adding truffles and bottled water without asking. We were also presented with a special dish which the waiter did not disclose was $175 until we asked. A bit underhanded and not appreciated. With prices going up I understand they need to make $ - but it should be more transparent and respectful of customers awareness.
The food at 561 is outstanding , as is the service. This is the second time that we were there with friends , and it was awesome. We also like the fact that it has a lively atmosphere, and everyone is enjoying the experience. Our server Amanda is very knowledgeable and personable, and the owner Frank is a great guy. If you like good food, do not pass Rue 561 Bistro up⦠Absolutely 5 stars â¦
Steaks were cooked to perfection Need to add salads to menu, Cesarâs etc. Appetizers way to expensive

Amazing culinary experience.
Overall food quality, service & value were great. However, the octopus & chorizo dish was bad. The fish was chewy and the chorizo was minimalistic and burnt . The ambiance needs improvement, possibly a picture on the wall would enhance the space. The organist was a nice touch!
This was our first time at Rue 561 Bistro so we didn't know what to expect. Our server came over right away greeted us, left menu's and took our wine to be opened. BYOB, BIG PLUS! We ordered the salmon and bucatini with mushroom. The salmon was cooked perfectly and had a tomato and bean sauce. The best I have ever tasted and couldn't get enough of the sauce. The bucatini was cooked just right and the mushroom sauce was to die for. Every bite I took was delightful. We also had a delicious side of brussel sprouts that had a delightful touch of sweetness. The only negative was no bread to soak up the tasty sauce that we couldn't finish with a spoon. Dessert was a surprise as well. Just enough for the two of us to share. The cheese cake had been perfectly cooked and partnered with banana geloto, fruit, and droplets of raspberry sauce. Sooooo Gooood!! Nothing like this in Toms River or Ocean County. We will be back!!!!! Thanks Rue 561 Bistro for an excellent gastronomy experience!!
The menu doesn't have enough selection. The price of meal is very expenses. The food was delicious but they didn't even bring bread to the table?
Wonderful dining experience. The menu is small but all offerings are creative and delicious and the plating is next level. Our party of 4 enjoyed every dish and portions are generous. Donât skip dessert. Cheesecake is out of this world!
