Princeton has done it again with another must try historical Establishment. If you looking to sight see and good eats this is it. The decor is definitely historical Georgie Washington vibes. The food is tastefully good. I had the braised short rib over mushroom risotto and it was scrumptious. I enjoyed every bite. The cocktail was refreshing. I will be back to try their brunch they offer on weekends.
This charming restaurant is a gem of a place in the Nassau Inn hotel. With a wall of Princeton elites on it's wall, full bar, and live music!
Good food, but the service was not good. I saw a different server that was very attentive, but ours was not. We had to ask the other server for a steak knife since our server didn't give us one, and had to ask him for a few other things. Our server came to our table when we were nearly done. Not good.
This is a very cool place that one who likes to drink must visit. There is a decent bar, with plenty of beers on tap and on bottle. The food was also good. We had hamburgers and they were delicious. The bartender was smart and funny. The woodwork in this tavern is exquisite. I would return here any day.
Nice place but terrible service! Both gentlemen we asked about how to get seated ignored us and went into a back room. When someone finally acknowledged we were there, they were clearly annoyed and barely spoke to us. My daughter and I looked at one another and then politely walked out. Would not recommend this place at all!
It’s a nice looking room that’s dripping with history. The beer list had interesting choices. Though we waited at the check-in station, the gentleman in a suit speaking with a staff member walked away. A server on his way to another table doubled back to seat us. Our appetizers (potato soup and chicken wings) were delicious; unfortunately our meals came one minute later so I was faced with the choice of letting my soup or my entree get cold. The soup lost: it was the wrong choice. The prime rib sandwich, which had mushrooms, onions, and gruyere (I think) tasted only of salty beef broth. I left more than half. No choice of coffee or another drink. Disappointing, and will look for better dining next time.
Lovely room decorated with photos of Princeton Alumni. Good selection of beers and a great outside space on a sunny day. Recommended.
Used to come here all the time pre-pandemic to enjoy a few glasses of wine and beer, watch football, and play shuffleboard. Now almost 2 full years later, the shuffleboard table is still closed with a sign referencing Gov Murphy's "Executive orders", most of which were lifted in June. Packed sports arenas are ok, packed bars without masks are okay, concerts are okay, but shuffleboard is a no-go. Menu has a nice array of food, but with Princeton pricing for sure. Great vibe and atmosphere, just confused about their concern with shuffleboard and covid.
Love the historical ambiance and the food portions are big! Can't wait for the next visit!
This place has really gone down hill. Service is very poor, the food was slightly better, but the beer selection and ambiance is hard to beat. Sad to see such a historic place succumb to such mediocrity. Two hour experience
