Was looking for a place to eat lunch yesterday and we decided on stopping at Mama Elena's based on the reviews. I got Rice with chicken, Chicken Stew, plantains and a few fried chicken strips. My plate was full and the price came to under $10, which is really good. The food was delicious but the chicken stew was a bit salty. If you mixed the Stew with the rice then it was OK. I would go back to this place again and try other things. It was busy when I got there so I know the locals are going there to eat.
I am very picky with dominican food. Coming from Washington heights, I have a "platanero" trained palette. There are no good selections in clifton, unfortunately. I decided to give this location a shot for take out, and let me tell you...... It did not disappoint! Can't wait to visit the place again to dine in.
Have ordered twice through grubhub and had gotten my order canceled because they didn’t have the items available. Why is it even in the app? Horrible horrible experience and then you have to wait to get your money back smh
I used to love their food however lately , the rice has been under cooked and hard , and they serve the food extremely sloppy , it may be because the have a lot of clientele , but is disappointing , another thing i will point out there are about 4-5 girls they rotate the shift , and a lot f times their too busy talking among themselves or about them to even acknowledge the people waiting . They should also have a set price per plate , they charge you chicken separate from the beans and rice with you order a a large combo.
