You hate to talk bad about any place, but this place is mediocrity, the restaurant. The food was mediocre. The service was mediocre. Water is only served in bottles you have to pay for. We ordered my daughter a Kid’s pizza, and it just looked like a premade naan bread with a bit of sauce and cheese on top. If it weren't for the location on the boardwalk, there's no way this place would still be around with their poor quality/overpriced foods.
Imagine what a Sysco food truck rejects put on a plate, barely cooked costing you 28 bucks. The garlic bread is an offense to every Italian Nona. Shady business practices include but not limited to: can’t order drinks until you order food so you don’t leave when you realize how expensive it it, bathrooms not open at all against health code, credit cards only for bill not for tip so the owner can rip off the staff without records. The woman running around like a crazy person is the owner. This place is disgrace to ocean city with its shady business practices. It only survives on tourist ignorance.
Never ate at this restaurant before so I thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. Honestly...I was not impressed. The dinners were over priced for the quality and portions of the meals. Over $100 for 3 dinners. The ravioli was bland and not very good at all. The drinks were served in small plastic cups and no refills were given. Our waitress was not the nicest and seemed annoyed with the manager.
Visited this little cafe on the Gillian’s Wonderland Pier thinking that I’d get some good, not at all that I would treated with the utmost disrespect! My sister, and I ordered the chicken florentine, absolutely disgusting and bland. I have never sent any food back at a restaurant until now, it was inedible. Our waitress was a very sweet girl, and when I told her she spoke to the manager who was very rude and unprofessional. Shortly after another waitress came over and asked if something was wrong. I told her it was bland and her EXACT reaction in a hostile manner was,“Ok what do you want me to do? Like what do you mean it’s bland? Do you want some hot sauce? Some seasoning? Like what do you expect me to do”.While my toddler ate his pizza, the unprofessional and rude manager and waitress were making rude remarks about us not liking the food. The owner was very nice and our waitress, apart from that, I would never go there again!
Very disappointing. We have been going to this place for over 7 years. Needless to say the quality has gone down tremendously and the price went up on everything for the amount you get. What really blew us away was our one child asked for a kids pizza it was $12. The "pizza" came out on a pita bread with a little sauce and one slice of cheese. For that price you should be able to get a good medium pizza and feed 3-4 kids. Also the chicken parm which was $26, they did give 2 pieces, but one was a chicken cutlet and the other was chicken parm. Sauce and cheese were only on one piece. Only 4 entrees come with a salad which was the world's smallest salad which included one grape tomatoe, one slice of cucumber and one very thinly sliced red onion. Really pinching pennies on the cheapest food. The kids and adult drinks come in the same size even though they are priced differently on the menu. On top of that no free refills (squeek, squeek). No pride in what they serve their customers. Not to mention paying customer are not allowed to use the restroom they make you walk down the boardwalk to the music hall. Having 3 kids this is such an inconvience and it's against the law to have a restaurant with no bathroom. How they are still in operation and not reported to health and safety board are beyond me. Definitely won't be going back
The owner if this establishment certifiably insane!! I worked 2 days and walked out because of how she treats employees and staff. As a waitress we are not allowed to run Any food, they have 1 girl that expedites and runs it AND we have to pay her to do it from the little tips we make. We do not make many tips because it is cash tip only and we cannot tell the customer that until they pay the bill. Even if we get stepped on a tip we still have to tip out the food right now. Maria the owner takes any party of six or more for herself so as a server we do not even get large parties. Again no exceptions. We are not allowed to talk to your chef, we are not allowed to bring drinks to the table before putting your food order in. Again no exceptions. She will not do a rotation or section for the server if you were not standing at the door you lose your table. How can we stand at the door if she runs us around doing 100 things at once for her cleaning! The bathrooms actually do work she just does not want customers in them because she is OCD and makes every employee clean the bathroom every time they use it. When a customer tried to complain because they could not put a tip on the credit card she got nasty with him and told him who are you to question me. Once that man left I got yelled at and was told never to tell people she is the owner tell them the owner is away sunbathing in Italy. She constantly yells at employees and does not care if she does it in front of customers. I feel bad for these young kids that it’s their first job and they are exposed to a psycho like this. You cannot do any substitutions for food. It is very overpriced for the quality. When I told her she needs to read the reviews people have left about her she responded with I don’t care what people say. She also does not pay employees. She said they make enough money in tips. No the service do not because most tables will stiff you with their cash only tip policy. STAY AWAY !!! I wouldn’t not give this lunatic a dime !!! There are many other places to eat !!!
We stopped at Ocean Cafe when their colorful chalkboard with breakfast specials caught my eye. Their regular menu items included a variety of traditional eggs, meats, fresh fruit, etc. It’s been a wearing 2-1/2 years of hospital work, and I’m slowly adjusting to post-COVID life outside of the medical setting. Still, I’m cautious about dining out and I try to avoid crowds. It was a relief to see that tables were set with paper napkin-wrqpped plastic utensils and a bottle of hand sanitizer; my hot, fresh coffee was served in a paper cup with plastic stirrer. Half-and-half creamer cups were provided in a plastic dish. My son enjoyed French toast with syrup, home fries, eggs over medium, and rye toast. Hot, right off the griddle and satisfying. Apple jelly and butter pats were again provided in a plastic dish. The omelette with broccoli, tomatoes, cheddar and bacon was cooked perfectly: not dry and not runny. It was served with salsa, toast, home fries and a chunk of watermelon. Colton was an attentive server; empty plates, cups, napkins, etc. were removed throughout our meal. Our check was offered without our having to hunt him down. Our food was prepared fresh to order and portions were generous; we’d normally eat less, but it was a satisfying meal that sustained us through a full day of Boardwalking, swimming, and exploring Ocean City. We plan to go back again before summer’s end, and will definitely return to Ocean Cafe!
We decided to eat here for breakfast. Being new to ocean city, we didn’t know what places were good. We should’ve checked the reviews beforehand! The food was subpar, the sausage had a funny taste, the prices were RIDICULOUS! $6.50 for a SMALL kid sized chocolate milk. The head waitress was yelling at all of her employees constantly and it was very uncomfortable. We felt terrible for her employees. Do NOT eat here!!
quiet day in OC. just a quick visit looking for lunch. found the cafe...warm, inviting, just a simple delicious breakfast sandwich for lunch. friendly staff
Great place I love it. And love the food and service very well done. And the prices are not breaking the bank
