Fresh sardines come on Thursdays from Portugal. If you're not there then, they will sell out.
They had what I wanted.. Was attended to right away. We asked and was given 2 bags of ice for the cooler. We live a good distance away but when we go to the area this is a place we stop to get fresh fish.

The best seafood market in New Jersey. Period. This authentic Portuguese peixe in the heart of Newark Ferry Street offers the greatest selection at a fair price. The seafood is always very fresh, the fishmongers are top class, nice and fair as they give you only the best fishes. We have been getting our seafood for several years--once a month--and we have never been disappointed. If you truly like seafood, and you know what quality seafood look and smell like, then this is the place to go.

Nice seafood place, its not going to be cheap, but the prices are fair... My lobsters were wonderful and full of meat, make sure you get every nook and cranny! Made a lobster roll woth it too…Lots of selection of fish and shellfish, as fresh as you can get it, so its worth it no matter what. I recommend it if you really want some good fresh fish or some other seafood!
Very organized.. numbered line up with social distancing. Great selection of seafood/ shellfish. A bit pricey though but I would still go back and purchase every now and then.
I have been buying fish there for close to 40 years and it's very fresh and good prices but the guys working there are miserable and never open on time, they see customers waiting outside and they don't care, always make you wait ?. This past week was the last time I will be going there.
