if i could give negative stars i would. the first 2 times I had el jefe’s it was really good and that’s why I kept going back. Except the food and service continues to decline at an alarming rate. My order has been messed up several times (forgetting to put meat altogether ,only putting chicken and steak and forgetting the shrimp, no tortillas, etc.) today my order was soggy. the food was so watery the bowl was so wet. definitely is my last straw and won’t be coming here again
This restaurant is SO BAD! I had a burrito bowl that was atrocious, it was inedible! It was a smorgasborg of all the wrong stuff. Then I had a flan which was truly disgusting, it was so bad I had to throw it out. Do better Rutgers.
I’ve been here a few times and I usually get their burrito bowls which are good. Today I went with a friend who got the fish tacos and they were boarderline unedible. the fish was gross and old and barely had any fish in it, and the fish it did have was very old and hard. not to mention the tortillas were cold even after they were toasted and overall not impressive. I wanted to contact support and ask if there’s anyway i can get a refund for the tacos because they were very not up to standard and i’m disappointed as the other food here is usually good.
no Mexican flavor at all, I ordered some “chorizo” tacos and they sent me some rice tacos with two slices of chorizo, in which part of Mexico do they sell tacos with sliced chorizo?, hard and cold tortillas and the most greasy chips in life, I give it one star because there is no less. food to throw away
I usually loveeee coming to eat here. It was one of my favorite places to grab lunch, because 1. the quality of food & presentation was excellent, 2. good service, 3. the serving sizes were great as well. I came in this week and noticed a significant difference in the amount of food given versus my previous visits. I (& other patrons) received less food, however, I noticed the prices increased, smh. I understand the state of things in our country and food supply. But if you're going to charge more, maintain the same standard, don't change it up. Maybe today was an off day. Maybe tomorrow or next week will be different. I'm willing to give it another try, but if I walk away with another bowl, half full, the way I did this week, I'll have to visit another location or leave this chain alone all together.
Went here late at night, that’s when you see a restaurants true quality. I ordered tacos they were the most disgusting tacos ever, I don’t even think you can call them tacos. The tortilla was freaking cold and uncooked the meat was nasty and had a smell of raw chicken. I ordered al pastor by the way. A disgrace to Mexican cuisine, it’s like a joke they even serve this. Won’t be coming back I think chipotle is a better alternative then this. If you guys want real authentic tacos go to TACO HOUSE in New Brunswick.
I love this place so much!!! Especially One of the ladies that work there, Taquana!!!!! She is such a nice person, always making the place a lot brighter and always so welcoming, she’s definitely always a delight to see her at Jefe’s. Definitely my favorite!!
Restaurants like El Jefe's are very few and far between... The restaurant's tacos and burritos are spectacular. They have such a wide variety of options for protein, they even have a veggie specialty. My personal favorites are the tilapia & steak tacos. Sooo good! An absolute breath of fresh air. You will be happy you ordered from them!
This place is a lifesaver on a late night. Nice portions, good service, and the burritos are slammin. Not sure about the hate- some people want a fine dining experience on a college campus i guess?? WILL COME BACK!!
the food is mad good!! it’s a newer place in town so there might be some growing pains but you can tell management really works hard to deliver. cant wait to eat here again!!!
