Great entrance..touch of class all around the place...greeter and staff fantastic and attentive...the lighting at 630 pm should be on as it was a bit dark and hard to read the menu...the menu had great choices with food made to perfection and fast......from the appetizers , the main course....and dessert fabulously delicious...heavenly and fresh to the taste....looking forward to going back soon. YOU must try ROOTS STEAKHOUSE
I wanted a burger so we decided on Roots. I had never been but my husband has for business. The overall experience was barley average for an expensive dinner. They did not have burgers on the menu so I wound up having a steak(did not taste like aged prime rather grainy and chewy, but overall cooked to perfection) and my husband had fish(the edges of the fish were dry and crusty). The tuna tar-tar app was excellent. Brussel sprouts were bland and would cause anyone to not eat Brussel sprouts. Wedge salad was fine. But overall the meal was lackluster.

Absolutely excellent food, attention to detail, and warm service. My parents made a reservation only two hours in advance and noted it was their wedding anniversary—they were greeted with well wishes and congratulations throughout their dinner. It made their night and they will definitely be back! Thanks for your kindness. (They recommend the rack of lamb and the filet mignon.)
Holy cow! Hands down the best steakhouse I have ever been too! My steak was amazing, the sides were delicious and the service was outstanding. My only regret is that I live 1,500 miles away or I would be a regular customer. Worth every penny! I will be back!

Some Good food, excellent service by Mike our waiter.Timing of Cooking food so it's brought out and served right of the grill like it's supposed to be at an establishment of this caliber needs a lot of improvement. Hope your reading this kitchen staff management!!!!Overall good, not great, and definitely Overpriced (IMO)Portions are on the smaller side and flavor is a bit off as well, like unseasoned to me. This was my first time there, maybe I'll give then another shot.Filet mignon was cooked medium on par however not the best I've had, lacking juciness, flavor and seasoning compared to other steak houses. Grilled Shrimp was tasty but served cool and should have been served hot, fresh of the grill, I'm mean after all it's grilled steak with shrimp, no??? My friend had the lamb and said it was very good.Sides were good and served hot, au gratin potatoes very good, Brussel sprouts tasty just missing something, spinach was fresh but bland, for my tastes. Loaded baked potato huge & tasty.Save the onion rings for somewhere else. These tasted frozen not fresh. Red Robin or most any other NJ Diner rings kill these by far. Sauce was good though.Deserts are very good, carrot cake full of flavor and not too sweet. Sundae was like by the kids as was the chocolate cake.
Been coming to the Morristown location for a while. Really hit or miss with regard to the experience and steaks. On the experience side, I felt fairly rushed. I wasn’t exactly sure what i wanted and the waiter hovered over me insistently until i made a decision on all of my orders (apps, entrees). Quite uncomfortable. I get that you want to make it easier on the kitchen but give me a min! Steak came out black and burnt. They used to come out with a nice crust but lately the steaks have been coming out with a dirty sooty black char. Perfect medium rare on inside though. Fairly edible on this occasion.
We went to Roots in Morristown to celebrate my birthday. We were not a fan of the bread but I asked for olive oil and they said they did not have any. How does an upscale restaurant not have olive oil to dip the bread? We thought the apps were just ok and the salad dressing for the salad was not good at all. My husband ordered the cowboy steak only to have the waiter come back to say they were out. Another disappointment. The sides were also just ok, not what we would have expected from this place. I ordered two shots after dinner and the bartender didn't know how to make the shot so I provided the ingredients but it was terrible. They did absolutely nothing for my birthday. We spent over 300 dollars and they did nothing at all. Anywhere else you go they do something. This was a huge disappointment.
