Update: Amazing place with amazing owners and food. They gave us food from their own garden. We are always trying new things on the Taiwanese menu and we have never been disappointed. My husbands new favorite place in Morristown. BYOB. Amazing authentic Taiwanese food. The waiters (especially the owner and his wife) makes sure you are picking the best options and is very nice. I was full but in a good way. No MSG and the seafood was so fresh and hand picked. Try something new! If you do not know what to pick, ask the wait staff. They picked only the best for us.
A gem across the street from the Hyatt regency, lins palace was a wonderful experience for my friend and I. We visited on a Thursday afternoon for lunch and were pleasantly greeted by our host John. I’ll preface this review with - at every dish brought to our table John was in lock step with us. Giving great recommendations and seamlessly weaving friendly chatter about our families and telling us about his illustrious 50 year career in food. We started with the pork and Szechuan soup - lightly pickled veg, greens, and thin sliced pork in a savory broth. Following soup, we would try the homemade Taiwanese sausage served with sliced garlic - brilliant homemade flavor! For entree I don’t know how but John knew I wanted traditional Cantonese steamed fish with scallion and ginger and he did not disappoint. A large sea bass arrived at our table and it was perfect in every way! For a vegetable we ordered bok choy that was far from authentic and tasted like it was covered in butter - this was not the veg I had in mind and I didn’t care for it however my lunch mate enjoyed it. John also brought us some off the menu tomato salad with tomatos grown in his own garden. Fresh and bright and a lovely accompaniment to our fish. I enjoyed the food and company very much. 4 stars from me since I didn’t think the vegetable was cooked properly and while the decor lent to the character of the restaurant it could be a bit tidier and cleaner. Thanks John!
delicious and authentic! owners are very friendly too. our favorites are the taiwanese sausage (pictured) and taiwanese chicken roll.
First time I tried this spot was in the beginning of the pandemic. I have ordered 3 times since! I love the chicken w/broccoli and my bf loves the sesame chicken. The only thing I didn't enjoy much was the vegetable lo mein. It didn't have much of a flavor to it. Other then that, solid place. Order for pickup is always ready before a half hour.
This place is like Taiwan stuck in a time capsule. Truly authentic real Taiwanese food complete with the look and feel of Taiwan from 30 years ago. Super friendly owners and staff. Loved the oyster noodle soup and scallion pancake that I ordered. They do off the menu custom Taiwanese meals for gathering! Will be returning to try more.
VERY bland, low on spice/flavor and crispy chicken comes in a watery soup? Defeats the crispy component. Taiwanese food is good, Chinese is average
Just had Lunar New Year Celebration Banquet dinner here. Feel like I was back to Taiwan! One of my favorite authentic Taiwanese restaurants! Super yummy food with friendly staff , and Karaoke entertainment is a plus ! Owner has beautiful voice , ever time I got homesick, I would come here , speak Taiwanese & singing Taiwanese,of cause eating Taiwanese dishes …. Ask the owner what is off menu dish’s of today. Never disappointed me !
I have lived around the corner from this place for about a year before I decided to try it. Very nice sit down Chinese food with excellent service and generous portions at a reasonable price. It’s not the most eclectic dining atmosphere but it’s solid good food. Love the hot tea. Very old school ! Highly recommend
Looks completely different from the picture. We were absolutely disappointed as everything was really bad and overpriced, except for the salt and pepper fried chicken. The fried tuna in the fried tuna noodle soup was not fresh. I only had one piece and told the waitress, but she didn’t offer to comp us. Nothing was authentic, just an attempt at Taiwanese food.
(If you eat pork) do yourself a favor and order the Taiwanese sausage. Made in house, well-seasoned, and easy to reheat (providing you have leftovers). The fried shrimp rolls are also delicious. Owners are super friendly.
