I visited Sparo’s for the first time back in March. After getting some help from the staff, I went with the Mama Cici and the Kiki Girl. I forget which was which, but both were good. I liked the duke’s Mayo on them but must admit the sandwiches were a little dry. One had fried long hots on it, which I’d never seen before. Just wish there were more. My expectations were very high coming in based on recommendations. Because of that i was slightly disappointed, but if I were nearby I’d return again without hesitation. Overall tasty sandwiches and I can see why it’s a neighborhood favorite.
We ordered from the Belleville location yesterday and it did NOT disappoint. My husband is not a huge sandwich fan, so it took some convincing, but he absolutely loved them! We tried 3 different sandwiches and will definitely be back to try more!!!
Great sandwiches however not the best value, I feel like every time I go back the sandwiches keep getting smaller. Pretty skimpy on the chicken cutlet. I don't mind paying $16 a sandwich after tax but don't skimp on the sandwiches!!!
Sparo’s makes a damn good sandwich. The Mama Passero is outstanding. Fresh semolina bread, perfectly fried cutlet, hot soppressata, broccoli rabe for a nice crunch and bitterness, roasted peppers, dukes mayo. Knockout good.
Super clean establishment, super friendly staff. Ordered subs for my entire family and Everyone agreed they were the best subs they’ve ever had. Bread 10/10, meats 10/10, shredded lettuce and thin tomatoes 10/10, dressings 10/10. You will not be disappointed. You can't compare a place like this to Subway as Subway is the Natty Ice of subs, this place is Blue label.
went here the first week they opened. bright smiles, welcoming energy. our go to spot for an italian hoagie.over time, that changed. eventually this girl took over orders. she wasn't nice, but she got the job done.a few weeks ago my wife went in to pick up an order. we think the owner was who we talked to. super rude. there was an issue with online ordering (admitted by the ordering site) but he told her it was her fault and yelling at her when the sandwich was ready while she was on the phone trying to figure out what happened.eventually my wife said we won't be coming back. he said yeah don't.we just came from taking our 1 year old to get a covid test. in short great sandwiches, but not worth supporting an egomaniac who is in the business of serving himself and not his customers.
My daughter's 3rd grade teachers brother owns the joint which is how I discovered it. Fantastic hoagies, like seriously fantastic. Great atmosphere too. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Will be a repeat customer.
Paisano. Fantastic sandwich. All the ingredients were flavorful and perfectly balanced. Best fresh and crusty bread I've had in a while.
So so good! Consistently great sandwiches. The bread is fresh, sandwiches are BIG and generously filled, and the service is awesome- so fast & efficient. Favorites are the angry Lou and Sparo. Everyone who works here is always so kind, welcoming and helpful. Thanks yall!!
Holy [email protected]&!!! We just moved to Montclair and couldn’t be happier that this spot is within walking distance to our place. To start, Mama Ree you are magic. You’re inviting, humble, personable, cheerful, beautiful and kind (to name a few). The place felt like home. We shared (should have gotten my own) a “Lil Gracie” and the roasted pork was AAAAmazing and portions GENEROUS. Mouthwatering tender juicy perfection. We requested the broccoli rabe on the side but don’t do what we did. Get it on the sandwich. It’s chopped so finely and I think that somehow removed some of the bitterness often found in the veggie. The garlicky lightly bitter rabe took this Lil Gracie to another level. This is not your run of the mill deli. While they likely could throw together a mean turkey sub, and it would rock, these guys are on another level. Maybe even a cold cut above the rest ?.
