The place is decorated nicely! Reviews for the place looked good and so decided to try it out. There were maybe 3 tables occupied at the time. Even with that, service was slow. We had to ask where our food was- one of the items for my daughter never even came out. Luckily, she just shared from our plates. No one even comes to check on you after you’ve been served. Shrimp tacos were decent. Food is not spicy and their spicy salsa is tabasco . Guacamole was fine- but if you know fresh guacamole- this one will remind you of store bought mixed with freshVeggies. Food was good, not great. Prob would not return given the quality of Mexican & Latin restaurants in the area!
We were so excited to try this restaurant; it's colorful and welcoming, with plenty of outside seating available tonight.that's where the joy ended.The cheese flautas were approximately what you'd expect if you wrapped a string cheese in a tortilla and deep fried it, except saltier. There were a few crumbs of cilantro on my plate, but no pico, no salsa, nothing to break up the relentless dryness of the dish except a tiny drizzle of sour cream.The fajitas were similarly spartan, lacking sour cream or pico. The veggies were plentiful, at least.
Aztec soup and both our entrees were delicious. The service was excellent and the seating comfortable and not crowded near other tables. We'll be back!
Whenever you visit Monclair you definitely have to try this place out. Cuban Pete has changed and while I thought they were the heart of Monclair I think I found a new heart of the city.The guacamole is literally the freshest guacamole ? I have had… besides my mom’s of course so please don’t tell her I said this…Don’t forget that this place is a BYOB so make sure you bring your tequila because they make amazing margaritas with itOh and the breaded steak…..holy smokes Served with rice and beans….licking my fingers again.Do you like the movie titanic? Yea? Well you’re in luck because you can re-create that scene with the hand on the window when you order the fajitas.Check those pictures.Oh and they have churros. Mind blown yet?!?!
The real deal, food and service are excellent. The menu is amazing, it is a can't miss.

Horrible experience! Rude and disrespectful customer service. After being seated we waited at least 25-30 mins to be acknowledged. Oddly enough some other Black patrons was experiencing the same level of bad/invisible service.
I got the snapper. Very expensive. Flavor very lemony alittle overwhelming.
