Wonderful coffee and coffee shop! The current shop is very small with limited indoor seating. They are expanding into a much larger shop next door and I’m guessing that will be open at the end of the year! There mixed speciality coffee drinks were amazing. I also purchased one of the micro lot coffee beans. Excited to try that soon. Staff was very knowledgeable about my questions on the coffee and made great recommendations. Will be back on my next visit to NJ.
I love Paper Plane Coffee but I REALLY WISH they’d invest in some UNSWEETENED alternatives milks. Let me put sugar in it if I want it. Barista unsweetened oat, soy, coconut and almond are readily available. (Oh and please offer coconut milk as well).I’d love to see you offer these. I don’t think your customers are realizing how much sugar is in their drinks. Give us the choice to choose sweetened or unsweetened milk. Thanks!!
Great job, Berry. He was both competent and approachable. Before beginning the task, he discussed the issue, presented a remedy, and provided a pricing estimate. Sump Pump Gurus' customer service representative identified the issue and then assigned a plumber most suited to resolve it during appointment scheduling. Professionalism and effectiveness were evident throughout the procedure.
Love their drinks, my preferred one is the mayan. I also use their beans at home. Always fresh.
I have never been to the actual shop so can't speak for that; I order online. I discovered their brand at Whole Foods and during the pandemic when the shelves were often bare I decided to go to the source. So glad I did. Paper Plane has a nice assortment or original source coffees. Always freshly roasted, my roast dates are usually the day I ordered it (you won't find that at WF's). Ships same day; most times I receive it the following day. Coffee bliss!
I think this was more of an "it's not you, it's me situation". Starting with what we liked. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. A man waited from before we got there until just about when we got our drink patiently. It was clear they forgot his order (bag of coffee grounds), but to make up for it they: 1) apologized sincerely, 2) gave him a coupon for a free coffee next time & 3) gave him a free coffee on the spot. You can't put a price on good service! That being said we got the Nam Dam and Milo, both medium, both hot. It was just not the kind of coffee I'm into I guess. It tasted really earthy and rooty and nothing like coffee (and that was with the extra espresso shots we added). It was as if they added a table spoon of spice to the drinks and I just couldn't drink it. This was annoying because the price was really high! However, with that, again I think it just wasn't the place for us. The line was out the door so clearly they have a good following. I might try it again, but for now, my overall grade is a 1.8 out of 5.
Definitely the best coffee place nearby. Has many pour overs available which are made particularly well. Their espresso drinks are also great. They also have many flavored drinks which they call "science" and are beyond a typical coffee place. It's a small well decorated place with the line often out the door, but the line moves quickly. The staff is friendly and really seem to know the drinks that are being served.
Paper plane has always been the spot for me. The coffee is delicious dont get me wrong. However for a 7$ coffee I would hope this place would be sanitary. Last summer my sister and I went there for coffee and when she finished her coffee a bolt was in the bottom mixed with the ice. Luckily it was large enough to not fit in the straw so that she didn’t choke, however, still gross. We called immediately and brought the bolt back to them because it was most likely apart of their coffee machine and they refunded us. I decided to give them a chance and go back as I love the butter brew and thought maybe it was just a fluke. Well I went back today and I was about half way done with my coffee when i slurped something up through my straw. I stuck my tongue out in the rear view mirror because i felt something in my mouth. To my surprise a friggen bug was in my mouth. I spit my entire coffee filled mouth all over my car (bug included). I am so disgusted it was a worm or something a skinny body and had two antennas. I nearly threw up as im terrified of bugs and the fact that it was in my mouth OMG. I called them and told them what happened as I felt it should be reported because this is the second act of unsanitary from this place. The lady said “well what do you want us to do for you”. NOTHING. I dont want anything I want to enjoy my coffee that i paid 7$ for with out finding anything floating in it. They offered me a giftcard for a coffee but of course i declined because I will never go back there after this. This is not okay. And to top it off Im not even sure if the lady believed my story. I told her i would send her a picture of the bug that came out of the straw and was in my coffee. My coffee was not outside for a bug to crawl in. I was sipping on it in my car. She told me that she pulled up my credit card number and saw my two complaints and said it is very weird how im the only person thats had this issue before and that its weird how its two times. I dont know if she was implying that i was lying. I dont want free stuff. I called to complain because im truly traumatized that a bug was in my mouth. Attached is a picture of the bug that I spit out of my mouth onto the dashboard of my car. GROSS.
An excellent addition to Montclair, Paper Plane is the best coffee shop in the area. In addition to their classic menu, they have a coffee science menu that allows for creativity. They invent new drinks on a regular basis and always have really unique ideas. We've been coming here for at least a year now and I've not had a bad drink. The vibes inside are excellent and the people are friendly. If you're driving through the area and need a pick me up, make Paper Plane your destination.
Great specialty coffee shop whether it be for coffee on-the-go or for picking up a retail bag for home brewing. Highly recommend their Guji and Aponte single origin offerings. The owner is very kind and the company is very responsive on Instagram @paperplanecoffeeco .
