Great breakfast and coffee and vanilla Chai latte...asparagus red pepper feta fritatta were excellent sat outdoors was nice too!
Continuing with our visiting the many breakfast cafes in the Montclair area, we stopped in at the Bluestone Coffee Co cafe on Watchung Ave for breakfast. It was a very summer-like day and we were able to grab an outdoor table near the front door. Our table and seating were comfortable and the full-sized umbrella was a nice touch. This would be our first visit to this establishment. My wife opted for the cheese omelette with coffee, included were pan fried potatoes and toast. For me, the French Toast with strawberries and bananas, a croissant on the side, as well as Americana Coffee. Being a specialty coffee shop, both of our brews were quite good. One of the owners served us himself. My wife enjoyed her omelette. My French Toast was OK yet, being a French Toast lover, the bread could have been thicker. I will, however, hold my final thoughts on food until further visits are made here. Overall, service was very acceptable dispite how busy this cafe is. It became quite obvious that Take-Out is a big part of their operation yet that activity did not seem to interfere with our enjoying our breakfast. The owner refreshed our coffee without us asking which was appreciated. With such an expansive menu, we plan to be back to savor more of Bluestone Coffee Co's fare for breakfast. Overall, this cafe is highly recommended.
Absolutely love this place! They have the best food in town and the service is fenomal. Definitely our favorite especially on the weekends!
Lovely staff and an amazing chai tea!!!! Challah French toast so fresh.
Good Coffee, and a solid breakfast. Nothing special, but its good. They don't make their own Hollande sauce FYI.
When I lived in Montclair, I used to go here all the time. Since then, I make it very very rarely; the last time was probably well before the "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" episode that was filmed here came out. So that's a while ago. But it's still the warm, lively, inspiring place it always was. The tofu scramble was excellent, and the red eye I got to drink (coffee with a shot of espresso in it) was great too. Why only four stars, then? Well, I felt somewhat ignored by the staff. I asked for a coffee refill that never came. It was a busy Friday noontime, but still.Still, overall, a great Montclair landmark.
Came last time and it was a solid experience but upon this visit, the food was severely lacking seasoning/taste. The servers were good but they never offered water. Coffee was good but the food was lacking. All the food was lacking salt. The potatoes was good texture but no flavor. The omelettes were basically blocks of cheese w no seasoning. Even their bread lacked taste. Severely disappointed. 6/10
Tasty breakfast, brunch and lunch spot.We were a group of 4 plus 1 baby on. Sunday lunchtime and were seated right away. If you're a bigger group, then booking is recommended. The food was all good and arrived efficiently, our server was friendly but a slow since it was v busy. They did however bring the food for the baby very quickly. We sampled a variety of savoury and sweet dishes, of which all were good portions and won't leave you hungry. There is seating in and outdoors and a restroom out the back.
Bluestone Coffee is a great establishment to patronize. The food is superb and fresh. The service is beyond exemplary. Be mindful that there is about a 30 minute wait being that it's a popular place.
Excellent coffee shop. The coffee and tea are good. I like the small fred potatoes; excellent baked goods. Highly recommend.
