A completely unknown and low profile restaurant. I chanced upon in quite accidentally because I couldn't find parking at the beach front and started looking for parking further inland. That's what brought me to this parking lot and there was this little Mexican restaurant and I said why not, let's have a bite. The moment they served their customary welcome nachos and salsa, I knew this place was special. The salsa was quite authentic Mexican, unlike what's served in Tex-Mex restaurants across the country, including the best of them in New York City or Jose Tejas in Woodbridge, for that matter. If you are not looking for a posh restaurant and would rather have truly good and authentic Mexican food, then this is the place you need to visit.
I stopped in to grab a couple of tamales for lunch. They only had Red (Pork) left so I took those to go. When I asked for a side of mole sauce I was told that I couldn’t have it, even though the cook told her it was fine, she said “NO”…. Whatever, anyway, when I got home I unwrapped the Red “Pork” tamale and noticed it was a banana leaf instead of corn husk. But what really made me want to vomit was the fact that the “pork” on the inside was in fact an ENTIRE CHICKEN FOOT and what looked like random ORGANS!!!! There was no pork at all!! I wish they would have told me that’s how they prepared their “tamales” I wouldn’t have wasted my time or money going there, I would have gone to Red Bank to get my tamales ??
Was waiting over an hour for food to arrive. Drinks were ok could’ve been better. Wouldn’t come back here too crowded and poor service.
Authentic Mexican. Sugiero la carne asada. Many other dishes to choose from. The atmosphere is just like you are in Mexico and they have a Latin jukebox for música!! Popular with the after work crowd and they offer pickup or Doordash too!
This used to be a good place. Extremely poor service. Food is ok.Para el rincon donde Don tino
Great atmosphere, authentic cuisine... it's a hidden gem
To be honest the food I got was not great…very salty. The drinks were okay but felt like they could have been better. Was the 2nd time going there and the first time was good but the 2nd time wasn’t.
I love this restaurant and there Nachos are the best. Overall very professional, clean and great food. Definitely worth many visits!
I have ordered from this place twice and I got the same thing both times. Both times I order a chicken cutlet cemita and I specifically ask for no lettuce, with avocado, and chipotle peppers instead of jalapeños and to my surprise both times they got my order wrong, they gave me lettuce, barely any avocado, and jalapeños. The food was more veggies than anything else and the chicken and beans had no trace of any type of seasoning, everything was blend and I was very disappointed. I Oder the second time just to see if maybe it was a honest mistake but it didn’t matter. I spoke Spanish to them on both I occasions to avoid any misunderstandings. Needless to say I would not be coming back to this place, and if you are in Long Branch spend your money somewhere else.
Great food and great portions. Awesome bang for your buck!
