I was really disappointed after hearing about this place. I know they are known for their soups and pork buns but I tried their pork soup dumplings. Wasn't impressed at all given only one person seemed to be cooking and it took almost 45 minutes to get 4 golf ball size soup dumplings. Sorry I didn't take a picture but this place could have better potential if they worked harder on consistency.
don’t go here the food is underwhelming and a waste of money. the soup dumplings were so bad I threw the rest out; insanely doughy and a nasty texture on the inside with barely any meat or soup. I also got the hot peanut sauce noodle and split another chicken dumpling with a friend and both were equally mediocre. the workers were very vice however and I thank the lady who gave us some chili oil to combat the lack of flavor. save your money and go elsewhere though.
You can have better soup dumplings in the nearby “Taste of north China”, similar priced or a bit expensive. You can also have better short ribs in the nearby “Shanghai best”, more expensive and larger size, so I guess similar price. For pork meatballs, the nearby “Chinah” in the Newport mall has tastier and cheaper options. My initial perception for this place is: it should be better at soup dumplings compared to other restaurants, as that’s the main dish it offers. After ordering once, I would mark it more like a fast food place serving comparably cheaper and smaller size dish. I have listed the alternative options within .5 miles. If I include Manhattan or flushing, those authentic Chinese foods will eat this place alive.Unlike pizza or Italian restaurants (e.g. Razza) nearby, which could compete with Manhattan average places, Chinese foods in JC is already in the lower band. This place cannot even rank the average in JC, which is really sad. However, as a fast food, the decor seems good, the dining area is clean and spacious, the service is good, basically anything you would expect from a clean and modern fast food place.Really hope they can at least enhance their soup dumplings to a good hand-made level, and maybe include Chinese buns as they are kinda a dumpling/ buns place. not sure why it’s that hard for cost control….
Clean and modern with a great selection of dumplings and noodles. Not too spicy, very tasty, and generous portion size for both rice and noodle dishes.
A great option with pretty reasonable prices. We got the Curry Chicken Baos & Fried Chicken Dumplings, both were average, The baos texture was fluffy and airy but the filling was just too sweet for me. However we loved the big bright space.
Soup dumplings tasted good even if they were flat!I'm not going to die for the food but especially for the price it isn't bad.
Great to see xiaolong bao in jersey city and good to have some warm bun during the winter!
It just OK or so so to me. The pork dumplings tasteless. But the place is nice and clean.
The vegan steak was really delicious. But they need to update their closing time. They are closing at 8 instead of 9:30 pm. I arrived after being walking in the cold night and was told they were closing in 15 minutes. I had to eat my meal outside. The spring roles were so so greasy that they were dropping oil all over the paper bag. The 3 napkins weren't enough to dry all the oil in my hands. I had to stop eating them despite of being so hungry. Besides that, the vegan steak was so delicious and the noodles and vegetables were just perfect. Perhaps, if I come back in the future and have a better experience I will upgrade this rate. PD: they don't accept cash.
vegan steak was incredible!! would love to now what broth / sauce it's in.
