Let me start by saying I love white star and have been there many many times. Same reason this is still getting a 5 star review. But ownership needs to know how bad/rude their bartender Melanie is. Made 2 of the worst, leftover tequila from the mixer, filled martinis. I’m not the type of person to send back or make the request to remake but figured it was appropriate given how bad the drinks were. Couldn’t have been nicer in making the request. Immediately throws an attitude and grabs them from me. Next two come back tasting like leftover bourbon that was in the mixer. Wife and I can hardly stomach so we simply don’t drink and enjoy the meal in front of us. Melanie storms up and barks “what’s the problem with these now”. Wasn’t going to get into it with her at the bar. I love and respect the establishment too much for that. White Star is not the problem. MELANIE who thinks she is better than the patrons is the problem. MELANIE is just too edgy to be nice. MELANIE should take some pride in her work. MELANIE is an embarrassment to a wonderful wonderful establish with great food and the best Bloody Mary in JC.
I just loved the Veggie burger here. It was one of the very satisfying veggie burgers I have had in recent times
A charming little joint in the Hamilton park area! Absolutely my #1 go-to restaurant whenever I get the chance to show someone around the neighborhood or even pop in with my regulars. I highly recommend the white star burger; it’s a prime example of simple yet effective, especially if you opt to slap some bacon and eggs on it (my personal order)
Love the vibe and service was great. I got the French onion soup to start which was tasty. I appreciated that it wasn't served boiling hot as it usually is. I was actually able to dig in relatively quickly!! After the soup I had the Van Vorst burger and my partner had the double cheeseburger. Mine was good, but his was better. Some things are just better classic! I do have 2 things to note - the burgers both could've used more salt, as the patties were pretty bland, and we both asked for a medium cook but both received well done. This made our burgers a touch dry. I would definitely eat here again, however I do feel it's overpriced.
It's fine. The burgers, which were once stand out, now seem common place. This may be because Pat LaFrieda burger patties can be bought pretty much in every grocery store and restaurant these days, but I think its also because the menu has really stagnated over the years. The burgers are still good, but they're not amazing. The fries aren't better than ok. Wings are still great.The faux-worn interior which once seemed charming, not just seems actually worn and in need of a little love. The staff is so great though, so if you're in the neighborhood, I can see why this stalwart holds it's appeal. But with so many place these days to get a stand out burger a fries, White Star sits firmly in the middle of the pack.
Been here a few times and like the staff and food generally but.... When you get served food with mold (and lots of it...) I think that is where I draw the line. Please be careful with quality control!
This has been a staple for take out for my fiancé and I during the pandemic! Their portion sizes are generous and the food is always on point. Favorites are the Double Double Burger and Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Highly recommend!

Yum! Delicious burgers. We had the classic (with an egg and avocado) and also the fried pickle burger. We got a side of mac and cheese. A star off because the egg was overdone so there was no runny yolk. Also, we asked for our burgers medium and medium rare. The medium came out well done and the medium rare came out medium, unfortunately. Service was lovely and overall a nice lunch experience. If we were in the area, we'd come back.
