They are shame on the name of Indian restaurant and bakery.Order:Cheese pav bhajiMasala pavRagda pattisJalapeño cheese puffCheese Frankie WrapMasala cheese sandwichFacts:1) cheese Pav bhaji the first thing you see from top of the container was oil and not the cheese2) jalapeño cheese puff contains only paneer in it3) cheese frankie was only cheese that too american cheese and potato stuffing was literally potato sabji4) Ragda Patti was so bland that we had to add the salt and other spices to make it a chaat5) Masala pav was also oily because their bhaji was so oily6) Masala cheese sandwich just take a look at the picture. The bottom bread of sandwich is the end part of the bread. Even in India if you go to the cheapest stall or place even they throw out the end piece of the bread.
If you want to experience live Pani Puri here, go early on weekends or go on weekdays. The line gets pretty long and takes pretty long time for your turn.Pani Puri here is good - they offer about 7 flavors of Pani ( Jaljeera, Hing, Mango, Garlic, Ginger and Khatta-Meeta) with Ragda or Aloo filling. They also offer variety of vegetarian-Jain dishes ranging from chats to thalis. They also have in house bakery items like cakes and Puffs.Chaats tasted good. Specially Sev Puri - has a good garlic kick to it.Would recommend.Service is good and quick.
Best 7 flavor Pani puri and live pav bhaji in town
This is the 3rd time that I received incorrect food items from Vatan. I have been ordering food from this restaurant frequently. Even after calling them they didn’t look into this issue, putting all the blame onto ubereats. I am not sure who is at fault, but there’s a chance to rectify it which Vatan didn’t bother to do so. Thank you for such a good hospitality!
Food: The taste was bad. We ordered a Chole bhature and a Thali. The curry was tasteless, the bhatures were raw and the khamans from Thali were hard as rock.Service: Average. Self service food joint.Ambience: Below average. There isn't enough space to sit and have food. The place is tiny with 2-3 dining tables.Hygiene: Bad hygiene and cleanliness. Unclean trash area. No proper sink or restroom.
The food was really good specially the pani puri. I have not seen pani puri served individually like in India in US before. The place is really small with hardly 3 tables to sit and eat and be prepared for a long queue for pani puri.
We usually avoid Vatan in Newark Ave JC. Except for the soft fulka rotis everything else is excessive spicy or oily or both. Some of the traditional gujju dishes are maybe ok but the rest is eminently avoidable. Used to be good initially but now the quality has really fallen for most of the dishes. As far as snacks are concerned we would recommend Rajbhog any day. There are better options for indo-chinese than Vatan so that pretty much rules out most of the dishes here. Clearly not among the best options for Indian food in Newark Ave in the Journal Square area of JC.
Good food but they don't have reusable cutlery or plates. They served in styrofoam cups, paper plates and gave plastic spoons and forks. I hope they change it.
Please don’t order to takeout they charged 20 dollars per thali but his quantity was very small two thali for 1 people only 1 bhajiya and 1 khaman for 1 thali all Sabji also small Quantity now I forget Vatan hotel please don’t go
Awesome food, all food were great, freshly prepared, excellent service. Must try restaurant for all vegetarian.
