It would've been five stars if not for the poor service. Our waitress took our drink order and never brought it back until we was almost done with dinner. I had to ask the bus boy for a refill of water. Then they already figured in the gratuity to the bill so you pay for poor service. I do like to tip and I know that the servers depend on tips. I have worked in the restaurant industry before with my father. He was an Executive Chef and he taught me how to tip properly.
I would give Teppan Restaurant 4 stars, But 2* are being deducted because of customer service. The waiter was very rude with taking our orders & serving the drinks, as if he wanted us to eat and leave. And also I asked if we could sit at a table and the hostess said No! Hibachi table I told her I had a reservation which she knew because I gave her my name. The Birthday Boy said it's okay let's just get seated. The Hibachi Chef was good and cleared the air but I asked for the check and the waiter tossed it to the guess that I was paying for and said 18% gratitude was added I said to him okay great because we normally do 20-25% you just save me some money thank you very much. And if Teppan is reading this I had a 7pm reservation. I would be happy to speak to you and give a class on Customer Service.
Had a birthday celebration last nigh. I was a bit skeptical about the place, since they got few bad reviews. However, we had a blast. Fun + good food. Hibachi steak and shrimp were our favorites. Fun for big groups!
I didn’t do hibachi here and can’t speak for that experience but the other food was not good. Salmon teriyaki was dry, rubbery and they literally forgot about the dish or forgot to put the order in so i got it way after everyone else in my party was almost done eating. The food honestly doesn’t seem very fresh, waiters are super green and don’t know what they are doing. Front staff looks like they don’t care to be there. I hate to put down a business during hard times but there are truly better spots in NYC or the surrounding areas of JC.
We went here for a friends reunion. They didn’t bring our drinks even after the hibachi portion was over. We inquired about our drinks twice but still didn’t get them. Miso soup & salad were brought out at the end when we asked about it. I would NOT recommend this place at all. You go here for the experience and food and both were 1 star. No apology for forgetting our drinks whatsoever.
Loved the service and food. Customer service was exceptional, from waiters to chef service, to the manager was great .Will definitely be coming back here. Also Jersey the chef was so funny and friendly. This place definitely deserves a 5 star.
The cheese wontons are AMAZING. The katsu portions are really large and tasty, especially the chicken. The katsu comes with rice, a small salad, and a soup — it felt like an awesome deal.
Great food and great service. Hibachi is really good as well
The drink the bartender makes worth 0 bucks. Full of water and ice. Complete waste of money. Wonder why they do it to the customers
Ordered sushi and Kani salad to go .. NEVER againThe shrimp tempura roll was so poorly rolled and packaged… they put 6 pieces in a tiny tray All falling apart. Besides the packaging the sushi literally had no flavor or sauce, just shrimp rice and avocado. The Kano salad was filled with bread crumbs on top and VERY little salad under … completely disappointing
