I’m so surprised by the negative reviews. I have been ordering from this restaurant almost weekly since I moved to the neighborhood. No issues with my order, ever. Maybe once. Like both of us had made a lot of modifications and they accidentally forgot onions on all the tacos instead of just my boyfriend’s. Okay. But seriously, the food is super good, fresh and quick. It’s consistently good and fresh, every time. Also, like I said, they only messed up my order once ever. And they have always been kind to me. Really surprised there are so many negative reviews! I find it to be a staple taco joint in the neighborhood and will continue to support them.
I've been ordering and going to their restaurant for 5 yrs now. Today was the last time I'll ever order from them. They often get orders wrong, but we have tolerated it because it is decent food. Today when the order arrived, it was missing 3 items. 2 of the items we got had a long, orange tinted hair in the food. 2 separate items had hair in them! When I called, the manager laughed when I expressed my concern for the cleanliness of the items and if the other items might be contaminated. We were totally grossed out and will never order form here again.
I ordered a half pint of salsa (which apparently does not come with chips) and asked if I could have chips. The woman at the window responded "No." I clarified and told her I would pay extra for the chips and she again just looks at me confused and said "No." I then asked another employee if I could purchase chips and he informed me they only sold chips with salsa, so I told him I would just purchase that (despite already having a half pint of salsa). The woman working the register (who I've spoken with before) is probably one of the least helpful customer-facing employees I have encountered. Additionally, Taqueria Downtown, consider adding standalone chips to your menu for those who order a half pint or pint of salsa. Food is fine otherwise - though, the quesadilla is very greasy.
Ordered take out, best chips and guacamole I have had. The chips were that perfect amount of saltiness to pair with the guacamole. I also ordered the chorizo quesadilla which was good too! Their salsa is so good too. Good pricing and I would eat there again!
This place created a huge letdown for us as first time customers. We ordered online and picked up. Only when I got home, I realized two fish tacos were missing. I then called to ask for solutions, and the lady who picked up said the kitchen confirmed they made the two fish tacos and whoever packaged them put them in, so there is nothing they can do. Excuse me???!!! When there is a dispute, you decide to listen to the kitchen??? Worst experience in JC ever. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Let them fail and close.
Fav taco spot in grove street area I prefer them over gringos (a few blocks west). I come here often or atleast once a month. Steak tacos are good and sauces are perfect ratio of spicy and tasteful. Margarita are the devil I wouldn’t say tasty but you will be drunk after a few sips lol. Also they gave me Xmas card last year it was sweet
Horrible experience. Stay aware or they steal your money and accuse you of lying. We ordered pick up on our way back from the hospital with a newborn. We realized at home that they forgot to put in the bag the soup we ordered. When we called them they said you are lying. This place used to be a good spot at jersey city but they are not worth the trouble anymore. Tacoria is much better. Try their mission style burritos. Amazing.
Regular customer however food was missing from my order yesterday and girl on phone was extremely rude and acted like I was lying. Says “I confirmed with 2 people your order was complete however as a one time courtesy you will receive credit on next order” and disconnected the call. I called back as I did not feel comfortable how the missed order was being handled (like if they were doing me a favor), same girl picked up and said “I already told you that you will receive credit” and hung up on me once again. As a regular customer that has been going here for years I did not appreciate the unprofessionalism I experienced. Def does not make me want to order from here again.
The food is good, but they will charge you an additional 15% for any order above $75. They claim this is for drivers, even you pay tips and delivery fees. This is the first restaurant in JC asking for this. Be aware of this additional charge...
Awesome, authentic Mexican food. Guacamole is on point! Highly recommend. We ordered a large order and the workers helped bring it to our car. Will be back!!
