I was a bit hesitant ordering for catering from Raaz because of the mixed reviews. I’m so glad I did! The food was a big hit for our party. Especially the butter chicken, tadka dal (by far the best we’ve tried around the area), veg hakka noodles, and the bhindi masala. I’m not sure why the rating is only 3.6 because the food quality was really good. We are definitely going to be ordering from Raaz in the future for catering Indian cuisine. Also I want to thank the chef, kitchen staff and the catering manager for accommodating the order since it was very last minute but not only that, they also let us pick up the food early before the restaurant was open.Highly recommend this place for catering your next event!
Worst Food ever in my Newyork Experience.. Ordered a Manchow soup and they gave some vegetables boiled in water. Also ordered Tandoori Roti and they gave something like a Naan...I mean charging a 5$ for a good quality tandoori roti would have been nice and not some Naan.At least we could survive the so called tandoori roti(naan) whereas soup was really disappointing ... I could literally feel vegetables being just boiled and cooked in water and some oil poured into it kinda feeling .....The only thing that was ok I would say was the complimentary Kheer
Food is very mediocre, pricey and served in very small quantities. I've been living in the area for a few years now and if I didn't have to dine in nearby, I would just order from one of the Journal Square restaurants that offer better quality at a cheaper price. This was our experience where we were the only occupied table in the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. To make things worse, our server when billing us selected the tip amount for us and moved through the screens on the app and presented us with the signature page and rushed us to sign it. Given our experience, I wasn't planning on tipping that much but they tried to rush us through it and I signed it. At the time of leaving the restaurant, I confronted the server and he apologized and gave an excuse that he has to do those because lot of people don't tip. I understand that but it's highly unethical. So if you're going to this place, be careful not to get duped by the server's trickery forcing you to tip more.
Not sure what I am missing here but the rating (3.6 at writing this review) seems inexplicably low. Been here few dozen times over last 10 years and food quality and consistency is great. I know there are better Indian restaurants but given the price/value this is a 5. Good service, ambience is ok and great food.
Raaz is such an underrated gem. The food is consistently good and the menu is large so you can try something different every time and won’t be disappointed. Funny story - I came across Raaz first when I accidentally picked up my neighbors delivery and smelled the heavenly garlic naans inside, and knew immediately that it wasn’t my order but wished it was mine instead. So I looked them up and started visiting regularly.
We were visiting NY with our friends and after sightseeing NY, we came into this restaurant by 9pm. The person who took the order was courteous and we had a fantastic dinner for 8 of us. The food was excellent and we left around 10:30 even after closing and there was no pressure. We will definitely come back to this place and also will recommend this highly! Thank you!!
The food and the customer service here is EVERYTHING. You're a fool if you don't try it sometime. That is all.P.S. Perfect if you don't feel like cooking a big meal on Christmas Day, or any holiday. Highly recommend the Mango Chicken. Absolutely fantastic.
If I had the option of giving ZERO stars, I would give that. I just ordered a simple dal makhani, malai kofta, and a garlic naan. Its the worst food I have ever had from an indian restaurant. The kofta balls were unfried, garlic naan was thicker than a loaf of bread, overcooked! and daal makhani was absolutely tasteless. This restaurant really needs a new chef given the overly priced menu!.I had to throw away the food as my family rejected to eat it. I feel so sad that I had to throw away so much food.
Best Indian food we had in NJ.
I ordered Chilli garlic noodles and gravy Manchurian from this place. The noodles was full of oil, at least 3-4 times more than regular oil used. The Manchurian was bland and awful. I barely ate 1/4 of the food I ordered and had to throw it away.
