I only gave this place 3 stars because when I called to check on my Uber order the staff was very friendly and helpful. However my chicken roti was terrible. There was no potato or Chana and overall tasted bland no flavor the best part was the pepper sauce. I can only assume the good reviews are from American people and not true Caribbean people. Because nothing about this roti was authentic at all. Seems there are no good Caribbean restaurants in Jersey.
I just got some food here and it is honestly horrible. I ate bad food in the past just so that my money didn't go to waste ...I couldn't even do that. I had to throw that food in the trash where it belongs. I have nothing against these people: I'm a caribbean man myself. I'm genuinely saving people from the surprising hurt of a spontaneous, disgusting meal.
It's a modest looking place with a good variety of dishes and is right on the money. No frills necessary. Their food is very flavorful and has a warm, comforting, home made feel to it.
Purchased the curry duck and curry goat both with white rice. I might as well had asked for curry liver because there was only one piece of the actual duck in the platter. The food was tasteless and mushy as it was drowned with gravy. Overall, the food was not worth the money AT ALL. Jersey City needs some real Caribbean food.. I guess only Brooklyn and Queens can properly fill that void. No stars from me!!
Great family owned spot. We like the mac and cheese, and jerk chicken, also the curry.
The organization I'm a part of used to order delivery from this place all the time pre-COVID. This time around when we called days in advance, different employees were telling us different things about if they deliver, what time they close, and if they can have enough patties for us for our event. Finally they said they didn't deliver a 13 minute ride because "they didn't want to deal with traffic". So we took the train to the restaurant to pick up our order that they said they didn't even put in! They also said that they did not have a callback number to dial, which is supposed to be the first thing they ask when someone's ordering catering. They said they didn't have ANY patties and closed the door on us and the lights at around 7:30!! We even called on multiple occasions to verify our order and any of those times a number could have been recorded. Very unprofessional. We won't be ordering from them ever again.
The Jerk Chicken is really good but the Oxtail is the showstopper. It’s the best thing on the menu by far
Food is fresh and delicious..Patties are to die for.
Searched online and found this restaurant yesterday. The Jamaican in me plus Trini daughter was skeptical at first. We bought Goat roti plus Coconut Rice with Jerk Chicken. This is the best Guyanese restaurant so far. I must say the food was delicious ?. Very Flavorful. The staff in front and Kitchen was very Friendly too. I will be trying the Oxtails on my next visit. Thumbs up.
Good Caribbean foods and really nice people. On the day I visited, it was raining and there were no indoors dining, due to Covid. But the owner was really nice and they set up an outside table for me to eat and I thought that was a very considerate gesture.
