Authentic French cuisine. Lovely rustic Mediterranean decor with a lively warm atmosphere. The Mussels are spectacular and the french fries. Yes french fries with Dijon mustard both is amazing. Lamb shank cooked to perfection and the wine list is well paired and reasonably. Bar is well stocked with many bar stools to drink or eat. A must for french cuisine in Jersey City
Nice environment and friendly staff.Service wasn't great during brunch and portions were really really small .I left hungry. A bit disappointing as dinner once was way better and tasty, with good portions and service. Wouldn't repeat for brunch for sure. But I would go again for dinner.
Enchanté Madame Claude Bis.5 stars for a delightful Easter Brunch. The entire staff was very nice and accommodating. The Madame came out herself to greet us and snap a photo.Half of our brunch party was late due to NY train issues but the MCB staff kindly sat the punctual half regardless and served us drinks while we waited (and took Yelp pics). The Escargot appy is a must try. The dish was délicieux. Bread dipping was addictive. After a couple mimosa rounds and snacking on the apps the main dishes arrived in perfect timing. It was like they were catering specifically towards us. We all enjoyed our meals. My Baked Egg Ratatouille était parfait, the sauce was savory, the veggies were soaked in flavor and baked with a slight crisp covered with a baked egg on top, yummz! If you haven't been here in awhile, they now have full bar!
Glad I found this spot. It's downstairs, and has a rustic raw brick decor. In a good way, the experience seemed simple and laid back. Much like the staff and their chill approach. However, the salmon dish I ordered was anything but simple. It had a great mixture of textures and flavors. It definitely seems like a lot when you look at it, but every fork-full is a culinary adventure. My wife loved her lavender cocktail and I had the house wine.
Cassoulet was phenomenal, the broth was divine. This is truly a French gem discovered many years ago. I will always make the trip from NYC for it.
Really devastated to write this review. Food was good 4/5. The service could have been better and a little more attentive. The ambiance is great. We were there on Thursday night. Note, the owner is in the Jazz band and they walked around the restaurant asking for tips which I’ve never seen before. Of course our table tipped generously for the experience. However, we were literally followed out of the restaurant to the sidewalk by the waiter who then asked if the service was “okay” because the tip was “low.” We tipped 20% on the food, not the 2 bottles of wine we literally poured ourselves. Not to mention we already tipped the owner and his band. Quite shocked that the wait staff thinks it’s acceptable to chase patrons out to the sidewalk asking for a higher tip. Really disappointed. Train your staff to behave in a more professional manner.
we had a fabulous time at madame claude! it was soooo cute and cozy. the food was delicious. the owners were very attentive to our needs. 10/10 recommendwe loved: the escargot, the mussels, the mushrooms, duck & lamb. Yum!!!
My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner here back in October, and I am still daydreaming about it. Lovely atmosphere, and food. Our server Natalia was perfect! Just the right amount of friendliness and checking in to make us feel taken care of, but never hovering or interrupting the privacy of our evening.
I had a wonderful dining experience with friends mostly thanks to the ambiance and cocktails, not so much from the food and the service. Service was rocky the entire time, manager didn’t really seem to know what he was doing. Took a while for our first drink order to go in although I saw the manager lingering right by our table, he seemed uncomfortable and unable to pick up on cues from guests when they needed attention.Food started off on the wrong foot with the bread. The really stale bread. I love to dip it in the escargot sauce but wow not even that sauce could make the bread good. The steak of the steak frites dish was too tough to enjoy and hardly got touched. Bronzino was just ok, lacked flavor, slightly over cooked and stuffed a random assortment of herbs (rosemary with a single thyme stem???) wilted arugula on the side over a bouillabaisse style side. Did I eat the whole thing? Yes. Would I recommend it to a friend? No. Leg of lamb looked impressive coming out but my guest told me it was salty. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was extremely grainy and inedible. They need to reevaluate the quality of the food they serve for the prices they charge. The chefs also didn’t have masks on….which is insane because I work in a kitchen we are having a huge outbreak right now and have gone back to strict mask policy.
I brought my friends here to celebrate my birthday and everything was beyond expectations. The meat is incredible, the duck confit was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, paired with a sweet cranberry sauce. So delicious!I don't like lamb very much but I tried the lamb shank! OMG! It falls off the bone and it doesn't taste like lamb. Same for the escargot. I had them for the first time and they were sooooo good. Our server was the best, so friendly and knowledgeable about every item on the menu.Best experience ever!
