They marketed $1 oysters. They weren’t available. They marketed plenty of seating. They didn’t seat us inside even though they had a plethora of empty tables. It was my birthday. They had no birthday specials aside from offering a discount on dessert. There were no attempts to accommodate the lack of follow through, the food was mediocre, and the service was severely lacking. Only come here if you’re desperate or waiting for a drink while waiting for a table at Hudson and co. Not worth it.
We ordered the poutine and seafood tacos. Both were excellent. The fries in the poutine were homemade and fresh (not frozen). Gravy in the poutine had a wonderful savory flavour with a hint of red wine sourness....delicious. The tacos were fresh and perfectly cooked. Service was a little slow, but not terrible.Would highly recommend this place.
I really enjoy this place and the view. I have been here for different occasions and celebrations and it really matches with all. In this opportunity, we tried their flat mimosas and caipirinha which were delicious especially the passion fruit mimosa. We had some guac and salmon and it was good as well. Price is fair and attention is great.
Went to check out happy hour after reading a google review about the Brussels Sprouts. Unfortunately, the best part of the experience was over looking downtown NYC. We ordered 3 app’s for 21. The calamari was tasty and enjoyed. The humus and babaganoush were tasteless very cold like they were prepared days in advance with no effort to season before serving. The Brussels sprouts were watery and lack luster. Additionally, the atmosphere at the bar was 10 bartenders but everyone standing around not doing anything and everything was label with orange tape which was odd. The most impressive person behind the bar was the bar back named Danny who was personable and took time to speak with us and assist with our needs. He deserves a raise. Sadly, we left in search of another place which was right next door.
My husband and I worked with Mona to throw a wedding celebration. We had a small ceremony during the pandemic with immediate family members only, so we viewed this as an opportunity to finally have the cocktail hour and reception we always wanted. Mona and Lokal delivered that in spades. The service was absolutely phenomenal - the servers were constantly checking on guests and bringing them drinks on the floor, the bartenders were experienced and made absolutely delicious cocktails, and no one had to wait whatsoever to get a drink. We got tons of compliments on the food, the atmosphere, the view, the service - everything! People were telling us it was the most fun they've ever had at a wedding. Mona and her managers are also so kind, thoughtful, and flexible. We can't recommend Lokal enough.
If you want to sell your friends on why Jersey City is great, bring them to Lokal.Lokal is the whole package - it has incredible views of the skyline, a great, open dining room, delicious food, great drinks, and beautiful art that matches the Jersey City vibe perfectly. Lokal is fun for anytime of the day and for any occasion, but I especially love their brunch.My brunch recommendation is to split two meals with a friend - one of you get the croque Monsieur, and the other gets shakshuka. Split the croque Monsieur and dip it in the shakshuka. It’s like a grilled cheese dipped in tomato soup but 100x better.
I been here a few times and the food & drinks were always decent… but today we were highly upset. We ordered a egg Florentine, the frozen spinach instead of fresh spinach was yuck! I felt the server was new and very under trained. Also after placing our order, the server comes back after 35 minutes & lets us know that somehow the kitchen didn’t get the order. Then we had to wait another 20 mins to actually get the food. I really wanted to get up & go across the street.We actually made plans to come here for New Year’s Eve.. thank god we went to Hudson & Co.Go for the ambiance & high priced drinks.. skip the food!
Okay I love this place. Came here for a date and brought my girl back a month later. Food is always great. But what really stands out are the staff. My waiter was really kind and quick with service, food came out fast, and they were great to talk to. When my girl and I stood up to explore the lounge, the waiter covered our drinks to make sure no one tampered with them. Additionally, we asked a waitress to take our pictures and instead of one or two, she took the time out to give us a full photo shoot. Love this place and always coming back.
Great location with awesome view but unfortunately that’s about it. We went there for New Years Eve and the server acted like they didn’t understand English and they served us “medium rare” duck and rack of lamb. It was raw and Quiet disappointing food. The food and the server we got was not worth the price. Thankful for the great music from the DJ and the scenery. Some of the other servers were nice thou…
This is a good place to just sit have a drink and enjoy the view. Cocktails were good. We liked their appetisers but the main course was a little underwhelming.
