Only place open for late night dinner with a larger party, so we were seated outside. Server was friendly enough, except in between ordering and getting the food, she came out front to get a quick smoke break in. Food was ok, seems like they cater more to the late night bar scene. Being outside, we also were visited by a couple cockroaches which didn’t help…
**UPDATE BC OF OWNER Reply (7/2/2022} :PS.... Judging by this response, you confirmed my experience was spot on. I praised the entire staff but ONE individual. And instead of acknowledging your employees that did GREAT, the amount of fun me and my party had, you are defending one small inconvenience that I felt. Please do better. S/o to the individuals I came across ; Kelman, Passion , Diana, the (Caucasian woman) bartender downstairs, and the Asian woman with the tight tattoos!!! You guys are INCREDIBLE!!! Lemme know when you all get a better employer to work for - we will pull up with tips just for yall. ☺️☺️end of update *****___________________i would just like to take this opportunity to praise the staff of Iron Monkey! We were a group of 4 and came Saturday evening - around 7p and sat in the rooftop. We were greeted by the bartender downstairs and Kelmen. Kelmen was very pleasent in letting us know the kind of crowd that comes. I am in my 30s, so I did not want to be around young college kids, if you get my drift lol.We were then seated and greeted by Passion. A very cute young lady who just started the job. She was very pleasant and what we appreciated most, is that she didnt use being "new" as a clutch, and BS her way through questions, but instead was very honest and smiled through all of our questions and provided great service. Diana was another pleasant sole that assisted Passion as she was training, and was able to provide more insight when we inquired about drinks/foods. Those 3 were AMAZING!I, however, did have one complaint from what I viewed and even relayed to the servers before we left. The tall black woman, Krystal, did not acknowledge our table at all. Not even a smile. I saw she spoke to everyone else, checked in to make sure other (white) patrons were okay, but she did not come by at all. Wait no, i lied, she came once towards the end to tell us that "we are out of martini glasses, are you going to be alright with that?" (because we all ordered manhattans) . Like damn, no hi? You just came bumrushing our table to say "NO MARTINI GLASSES, TAKE THIS INSTEAD" LOL...Now, I do not want to play the race card, but Im going to call it how i see it. We were acknowledged by everyone there, even the asian woman, with the short hair and the most detailed tattoos we ever saw. A simple, "is everything going okay" goes such a long way when customers are spending money in your establishment. Two black women came in, and she sat them down and immedietly said "we are going to need a credit card before you order". Just rude for no reason towards them. We were there for at least 3 hours, just taking drinks back, and not once did she ask ANYONE for a Credit card who sat. So idk - she did seem to be the most senior employee, maybe a refresher on smiling and customer service could be needed.Let me mention the food we had, I had the Asian Dumplings (WHICH WERE BOMB! imma order 2 next time - especially if we are going to be drinking the way we did! haha), and my friend had the buffalo wings which were also very good!Anyways, THANK YOU AGAIN PASSION, KELMAN AND DIANA! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! AND WE CANT WAIT TO COME BACK :)
Super cool place....we really enjoyed everything....service was great, atmosphere, food and drinks....it's an old building, fun and funky....we sat on the rooftop ( which I recommend).....this should be your first stop when visiting Jersey City!.....
Was there this past Saturday, first hot day of the year and there was no AC. We were sat in the second floor dining room and sat by an open window in hopes that it would be cool enough, it wasn’t. The brunch menu isn’t anything spectacular and the full menu isn’t served until 4pm which seems really late. The menus were sticky and didn’t seem clean. The hostess and waitress were both really pleasant and nice, the saving grace of this place. Found it very strange that they ask for your credit card to keep the tab open when you’re there for a meal, sitting in the dining room. The vibe was cool but we will not be returning.
The ambience was very cool but the food was very average at best and the beer list was minimal. Their scotch, whiskey, and wine list however was extensive. The waitress we had was either overworked or not happy because she was not really friendly. It's sad because it's a cool spot but I would think a pub had a bigger beer selection and maybe a more robust menu.
No air conditioning. The drink book and Brunch menu were very dirty and sticky. The Brunch options were limited and the “Full Menu” isn’t available until after 4pm. The hostess was very nice and that’s about as good as it got.
Menu is terrific, service is really good, everything is yummy and you'll find it very reasonably priced. I highly recommend going you will not be disappointed. Also a great meeting point.
Good beer selections! Our server was very nice! I forgot her name! But the staff overall was super nice! I wish the place was slightly bigger but it was good for a few beers & chill spot to hang out! Came here for a date night bar hopping with the boyfriend our apps were great had good drinks! Can’t complain! The space was kind of the only issue for me becuse you overheard other peoples conversations! We were kinda stuck into the back but it was fine!
Recently visited this place with my friends and we had a great experience! The best mac and cheese I’ve ever had!My friends got stake sliders w cheese fries which also was delicious! Friendly staff, good drinks, I don’t know why this place has bad reviews but I will definitely come back and highly recommend to all my friends!
Good food, great drinks and helpful staff. Might take a bit for the kitchen with large orders, but no complaints with the quality :)It's nice vibes overall!
