As a former vegetarian and now, converted omnivore, I'm incredibly picky when it comes to choosing animal products. I ONLY trust Darke Pines with my meats. Quality is top notch, service is always spot on, and I've loved everything I've tried (bacon, ham, sausage, burgers).
I nonchalantly stumbled upon this little place on a Sunday afternoon stroll. Though the shop was small it was jam packed with artisan goodies. I decided to try their homemade meatballs and Sunday sauce and WOW … the sauce was out of this world. Meatballs also 10/10. I’m convinced that their Sunday sauce has got to be one of the best sauce I’ve ever had. I don’t know how I’ve lived in JC for almost two years now and haven’t had anyone recommend this place to me. I can’t wait to go back and try pretty much everything else.
Store appeared to be local, have good products and a nice selection . No one could tell me my dog wasn't allowed in the store but the manager, while the staff just looked at me with rude stares unable to properly communicate. It gave off a stuck up vibe. I just moved from Williamsburg and was sad that such a great store in a quaint part of jersey city would be uppity.
This store will make you poor…but you won’t mind. You walk in for one thing and inevitably some other treat catches your eye. Came in for quality ground beef? You’ll leave with said ground beef, some marinated feta, a couple of links of merguez sausage, etc. Having said all that, it’s a gem. Wonderful store, helpful staff, great find.
Awesome local butcher!!!! Must see in JC. They also have raw dog food for those interested.
Broken record here, but great products and equally great staff. They've got some cool prepared foods and unique dry items to browse as well. Very solid shop. New go-to.
Great local butcher. I came in looking for some beef fat for some venison grind that I'm making. The shop was more than accommodating. The front staff were super attentive and kind. A gentleman named Juan who I suspect may have been one of the butchers came up front to discuss options he had. Great recommendations and I left with some awesome product. It's always nice to find a shop that invests not only in quality products and goods, but also invest in the customer relations and building a relationship with the people in your town. 5 stars any day of the week from me ??
High quality meat selection. The breakfast sausages are outstanding - some of the best out there. Prices are a bit steep, but when it comes to quality food you get what you pay for.
