Ma’am Liza was very accomodating, kind. We love everything about Chowking from siomai, noodles, lumpia, siopao and of course the halo halo. Good customer service and good food. This place deserves more than 5 stars. Salute to all the staff and management.??? job well done.-Liana R.
I’m kinda hesitant if i should give 3 or 4. Went to Chowking hoping for a Pinas taste and ambience. First is the location is not so accessible.. the staff is ok and they kept the place clean..it’s pretty spacious as well. I don’t usually give bad reviews about food but it was kinda disappointing. We ordered the lauriat (still thinking it would be similar to the chowking in the Ph) but then the servings are so small..the taste is different as well..so if you’re hoping to get all the nostalgia of being in Chowking in Pinas i advised not to keep your hopes too high.. the lumpia is pretty decent, but they didn’t give any of the sauce (maybe we need to ask?) the pansit canton taste so different and not even close to the iconic chowking pansit canton.. oh well.. at least the halo halo is decent enough.. pretty pricey as well.
I usually dont write reviews but I had to for this one. Please dont go its a waste of money and its not like the chowking in the philippines. Very deceiving when it comes to serving, the menu looks like it gets u full instead you get a 6inch small box with barely any food. Most of all, food dont taste good!
I cant recall the last time i ate at chowking. Was many years ago in my hometown Philippines. Just seeing the big sign outside the building brought me back to my childhood. It is nice to finally have one here in Jeresy. My favorites are the asado siopao, bola bola siopao, halo halo and siomai. You can also purchase a big frozen bag of siopao or siomai to take home with you and reheat whenever you want. The serving for the lumpia is pretty small for the price. Definetly try the siomai. Taste great with soy sauce and pepper flakes. The sago't gulaman, is another favorite of mine. It is a refreshing drink with ice, gelatin and pearls. I saw they also sold taho, its a soft curd tofu treat with sugar syrup and pearls. This is very popular with the kids, i remember i had it every morning on my way to school. The saying at the time was it makes you strong and healthy. The area is very well maintained. Place was clean and the crew were kind and courteus. There are Plenty of free parking here.
Don’t expect much. Made an online order of siopao, lumpia and halo-halo for pickup at 10:50am (6 min after placing the order). Upon pickup, order was not ready yet, they seem to prepare the order when the customer comes to pick up, had to wait long for the order to be fulfilled. Get halo-halo somewhere else, siopao and lumpia are ok but nothing to rave about. It is heartwarming to be around and experience the hospitality of Filipinos. Our ates and kuyas are trying their best to give good service but they seem to be overwhelmed. Come for the nostalgia.
I try not to negatively review places but this experience was a new kind of low that it would be a disservice to others if i don't share it.If I could give this place zero starts, I would. The service is abysmal and the workers are moving at a snail's pace.We came in for quick desserts (halo-halo, Taho, and black jelly) but after almost 20 minutes of waiting for our buzzer to light up we tried to follow up on our order then were immediately given a rude response from the server at the front. She completely forgot about our order and only started working on our dessert after we've complained about the wait time. To top it all of, the desserts were subpar with the Taho drowning in its own water (should be skimmed off before serving).Unless there are drastic changes to service, I suggest avoiding this place for your own sanity as the food is mediocre at best and the service is far from acceptable in a "fast" food establishment.
You shouldn’t expect dishes like the ones in the Philippines. It’s a given, that you’ll get other ingredients. Still a great place with dishes like home. We got Halo Halo 5 minutes before closing and the stuff were absolutely nice and still very smiley. The Halo Halo was still the best for that price in Jersey/New York area. We’ll be back again!
I am having a mixed feelings after i got my first order from these restaurant. The taste is not totally bad but the rice bowl is not appetizing, for the price i think its not worthy. Its siomai taste great but limited sauce. Also their lumpia is the best but halo halo for almost $7 and not enough condiments? I bet i cannot come back for more but definitely worth a drive for siomai and lumpia but i think they should improve next time ?
First time visiting & had to wait 2 hours for our order. While waiting for our order, people were mad at the service but i don’t think it’s the employees fault. It’s the management of this place that's the problem. They should anticipate this already, it’s the weekend and they have short staff. The employees need to treated better because I can see they working 3x harder but i don’t think they have a proper training.I feel bad for employees because they didn't have enough help.MANAGEMENT OF THE CHOWKING DO BETTER!!!!
We went there yesterday, and I’ll tell you, it ain’t the same chowking restaurant I used to go to before back in PI. I was expecting braised beef, lauriat meals, fried chicken meals, kangkong with bagoong, BUT their was none of those. I’d rather buy Chinese food takeout coz they got more meat and chicken in their servings rather drive 1 and half to Jersey city and get a bowl full of rice and a bunch of onion leaves and a few pieces of chicken and pork. Very disappointing and pricey!!!! My expectations where not met.
