Great restaurant with nice ambience and great views.Good appetizers and dishes, but Okay drinks. The exotic drink makes doesn't reflect in either presentation or tastes.

... there was a 2.9% credit card surcharge added to the bill. This is a place where I don't expect anyone pays cash unless you are getting a couple drinks. Too expensive to bring cash. Although I will always tip good service, I expect this surcharge only hurts the staff who rely on tips. Food excellent, but surcharge annoying.

The food here is so good! The octopus, scallops, and steak were cooked perfectly. The bread and pasta were also outstanding. The dessert was good and the cocktails were ok. Service on a Monday night was fast and cordial. The view and decor were beautiful. I would recommend this place strongly!

A Battello is a small boat often tied to larger boats and used to bring people back and forth from the shore. I’m not sure why this name was chosen and a lot of times I’ve passed their statue with the name under it and wondered what it was. I found out that it’s a real jewel on the Hudson in Jersey city. The first thing you’ll notice is that while the building itself looks small, the establishment is incredibly spacious, and well thought out. Very very clean. The staff is very courteous and professional. While sitting at the bar having a coffee I listen to the bar keep and a host discuss the wine, making sure it was chilled properly etc. very thoughtful. I liked that the customer doesn’t know that they’re working behind the scenes to make the moment nice. The view outside of Manhattan is incredible also and worth the visit if just to look at the skyline while having a Manhattan from the bar. It also looks like the beginning of some construction on a adjacent bit of land of which I’m hopeful it won’t obstruct the view. This is how a restaurant should be and I’ll write more when I have time to eat there.

Decided to drop in for an early lunch with my mom today. The weather could not have been nicer. Cool breeze on on face, the sun warming our skin....the open sun room at Battello was the perfect spot to enjoy our lunch. Our server Tammy was warm and inviting. She took really good care of us and attended to everything we needed. We ordered a few mocktails, the roasted octopus, the jumbo shrimp cocktail to start...they were fresh. Light, and the perfect beginning to our meal. For our main dishes, we had the Battello Burger and Mafalde Cacio e Pepe w/ grilled shrimp added. Our main courses were fantastic. Perfectly portioned and very flavorful. We weren't completely stuffed and decided to indulge in desserts with the Cinnamon Sugar donuts and the Peaches n Gelato.... light, fluffy, and peanut butter caramel/ fluff marshmallow dipping sauces were amazing! Our meal ended wonderfully! 10/10 would def recommend and be back for more!

I traveled from Canada to New York to visit my friends. Asked them to take me somewhere special and they introduced me here. Not disappointed at all. The location and view is amazing. I visited on a rainy day, but I am sure the sunny day view will be stunning. My favorite is salmon tartare from the seafood tower. Also the lamb chop and the grilled octopus. Very good place as for fine dining.

Was there for a corporate dinner. They were very responsive via email for coordinating our event on what we knew is probably going to be a busy night for most restaurants. We selcted a 4 course prix fix menu. The shrimp with celery 3 ways, pasta, and sea bass with caviar were great. The bourbon ice cream on the peach tart was a nice touch. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks. Location and views were amazing! Loved the love music too. I think "Hotel California" might have even sounded better with acoustic. Service however missed a few things. The food was taking quite some time to come so we asked for bread. It's understandable that we were a large party so things can take awhile. I was just confused why the bread plates didn't come before the bread. It was amazing bread though that was olive oil infused so need for butter. I'd go again since the food and atmosphere was so good.

We took a day trip to Jersey City to grab brunch to round out a birthday weekend. We arrived for our 11am reservation about 10 minutes early, we were greeted immediately and told the restaurant wasn't open and we were guided to a few seating areas. I ran to the restroom, which was very clean and smelled as fresh as a restroom can. (Good considering they weren't open yet)...When I returned from the restroom we were seated immediately, the view from our table was, of course, spectacular. The restaurant is well decorated and clean. The wait staff seemed to work great as a team, one server offered us water, another took our order, a food runner brought everything out, our waiter and another server cleared dishes, yet another young lady brought us the dessert menu, and 'our' waiter took care of that order along with the check. I have no idea the names of any of them, but super friendly and very well coordinated. As for the food, she got the crab cake and said it made her Top5 best crab cakes. I had the eggs benedict, which I get often for breakfast and this, although VERY good, did not make my Top5. The eggs were poached perfectly, the siaracha hollandaise was flavorful but I was hoping for more spice, and the prosciutto was tasty, but it needed more of it and then it probably hits Top5 for me.We ordered the donut dessert to go, we peeked in the bag and were a bit disappointed to see that for $14 we got two donuts and two donut holes, plus two dipping sauces, I only.hope the flavors are amazing once we can try them!Overall, we agreed we would be back, just know this place is a bit more upscale casual, we didn't see a dress code requirement, but other customers definitely seemed to be wearing "business casual". We personally didn't feel out of place in jeans and sweatshirts.

This was my first time visiting Battello's. We were trying to surprise my sister for her birthday. The hostess went above and beyond to make sure it was a surprise. I gave it four stars because I really expected the food to taste different, but it didn't take away from our enjoyable evening.

Located in Jersey City, Battello is located on the Hudson overlooking Manhattan. Chef Ryan DePersio has created a contemporary Italian menu that was a real treat to experience. From the winter lettuce to prime sirloin, each dish was meticulously crafted with flavors that pop. Each dish captured the Italian roots but with a contemporary twist. The ambiance, service and food were top notch. Battello is a true five star restaurant.
