The Pilsener Haus & Biergarten has communal style tables, but despite that me and my husband were still able to have an intimate dinner in their outdoor seating area! For your reference, the bill for our dinner (2 beers, 1 appetizer, 2 mains, 1 dessert) was $89.57 with tax.The food was incredibly good, the fries were a bit stale and the main reason for my lower review, as I believe they should match the quality of the rest of the food if they are going to be served as a side for everything.. the potato pancakes were infinitely better in our opinion.Weirdly enough, our favorite thing from the night was the pulled pork my husband ordered, I usually don’t even like it but theirs was incredibly tender and juicy.I was skeptical about the bread pudding, but it turned out delicious.
Beatiful Saturday afternoon have to be outside drinking a beer. They a lot of outdoor seating both in their courtyard and other side of street around the corner.Got seated promptly by hostess and server was right over. Had about a dozen beers on tap and other selections of drinks and bottled beer.Pretzel was fresh and hot as well.
I came to this biergarten with two (2) friends who live nearby within Hoboken. On a Sunday late afternoon, this restaurant was not too busy and there was both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside, and we really liked the unique beers and the atmosphere. I also was a big fan of the lamb burger with fries. I thought that the prices at this restaurant were extremely expensive although the food was good and the portions were rather large. I also felt that our server was not that amicable, and she would not allow the bill to not be on a single credit card. I cannot imagine that it could be that difficult to split a bill into several credit cards.
No need to travel into New York City to celebrate your Bavarian roots. The Pilsener Haus & Biergarten is located in the former location of America's First Brewery. They have a very diverse selection of German and Craft beers with traditional Austrian and Hungarian food. Great place to grab a beer in their outdoor beer garden or escape inside during the unrelenting bi polar spring.
First time visiting and was welcomed and very chill vibe. Recommend the meatlovers pretzel, full course meal and compliments any brew or IPA. Will be coming back in the future. Bartender deserved the $20.00 tip for excellent service.
This is one of my favorite bars in Hoboken. Since the new owner took over it has been a great place to hang or celebrate occasions. Food has improved big time as well. Love the German lagers and the giant pretzel. Come with many or just a few plenty of space for a good time.
This is one of my favorite places in Hoboken! It’s a very chill atmosphere. I love coming in on week nights. The food is great and I love their selection of beers and ciders. Their pretzel and kielbasa are both a must.
This was my first visit to New Jersey. My son, who lives in Jersey City, was excited to take us to the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten. What a big disappointment! The server, who "didn't realize we were seated" - his words - was either overwhelmed with the crowd or completely inattentive and somewhat rude! He took forever to take our order. He never returned to refill our drinks. A missed opportunity for the restaurant, as most of us were drinking beer! Refills = $. One of our family members received her meal first. About 5 minutes later, another family member received his meal. After another 10 minutes, the rest of us received our meals. Eating together is usually the idea when dining out, people! We did order a large pretzel before our meal and it had the taste and texture of a microwave pretzel. The food was pretty good, but not the quality expected. Specifically, the beef goulash had a curry taste - nothing like a German dish. We have visited many German restaurants throughout the US and this is by far one of the worst. Sorry, but I expect and want better!!! I'll take my money elsewhere!
Food is amazing and beer offerings are great. Only downside is servers come off disinterested in helping the few times I’ve been here.Other than that a solid place to go with friends outside of the Main Hoboken strip.
Loads of great beers on tap, D the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. We only had the meatball sliders; they were really good. Definitely going back to try different beers and food, looking forward to it.
