The family went on Saturday night, last minute choice. I shared nachos with family and they were not worth a bite. You can make better yourself! Lacking most of everything! Had chicken tacos for my main, well, couldn’t find the chicken, the tiny taco shells were overdone and hidden by some kind of cheese crumble and onions and maybe a tomato. Grandson wanted a prime rib dip and came cold and au jus was cold. He was hungry so he ate it. Just not a place I would recommend with todays growing prices!
Being a resident of Hillsborough , I been coming for YEARS.I used come here every friday night with my parents But unfortunately this will be for sure my last visit. I order mostly now to go and never again. I would say 8 out of 10 times they have messed up the order or forget to add the things that come with a order. Then have to go all the way back to the restaurant and grab the remaining things. Tonight when calling I explained to the hostess that please make sure everything is correct because in the past something is always not correct , i got a okay and guess what? Everything not there. Its sad. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with chips. It is supposed to come with lettuce tomato and pickle, well there was no lettuce, tomato and pickle. Yes it may seem petty but when all u get is bread and grilled chicken for $15+ thats not right either(i could have made that at home) They did the same thing with a turkey club in the past. Which was even worse! It was a load of turkey on a ROLL with nothing else. I am sorry but unfortunately i can not support this business any longer. This place is really a joke these days.
Old man Rafferty’s in Hillsborough is a great local stop what consistently good food. They have a large menu accompanied with large dessert Options as well.I’ve never had a bad meal here over the many years that I have come.They have an outdoor seating area which is very nice and a large parking lot which makes it easy.Worth a stop.
I had the Pear and gorgonzola salad to start. It was enough for 3 people. Covered with perfectly cooked pears. Fish tacos were best I ever had. Succulent breaded sea bass and perfect amount of salsa and spice. Open and spacious - it does not feel cramped on the inside at all. I will have to go back.
Took a date here, and it seems like the perfect place for this. There's a lot of options for every kind of eater (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free) and an impressive array of desserts. Bonus for the fact that the wait staff didn't make me feel stupid when I ordered an "American" coffee. ?.Definitely an institution of Hillsborough.
Delicious. A little pricey ($80 for 3 dishes + small desert + tips) but worth it once in a while. Very clean and pleasant atmosphere, would go again! The food is 8/10.
My parents and I have literally been going to this restaurant for DECADES, ever since I was a little kid! It USED to be one of our favorite restaurants in Somerset County and we would go there frequently. Unfortunately, it seems like this location (can't speak for the New Brunswick Rafferty's) has seriously gone down hill badly in so many ways. The menu has drastically changed and is a lot more limited than what it used to be. So many of their best dishes that they used to have are now gone and no longer available. The unique selection of desserts in their display case used to be one of the main highlights of the restaurant that made this place special. They used to have some amazing flavors of gourmet cakes and pies. But now they only have typical, ordinary, boring flavors of mini cakes that are extremely disappointing and are not even close to the high quality cakes and pies they once had. This restaurant is not impressive anymore, like it once was. Not worth the money either. I've had better food at some Diners for less expensive prices. It's very sad. Worst of all, BOTH my Mom and I ended up getting EXTREMELY sick from some kind of foodbourne illness after eating Dinner here. And the only thing my Mom and I had in common that could possibly have caused both of us to get sick was eating food at this restaurant. Makes me wonder if they have new ownership, negligent managers who either aren't paying attention or don't care about food quality, or unsanitary/unsafe kitchen staff now, since the COVID Pandemic. I notice that the last time managers responded to any reviews on here was a year ago and when I spoke to a manager on the phone about getting sick, he didn't seem to care or take it seriously. In fact, he was defensive against taking any possible responsibility. Instead, he claimed that he very much doubted that we could have gotten sick from eating food there and wanted to tout/brag about his food service education. So his defensiveness and smug attitude speaks volumes, but I have news for him: If I wanted to try to compare Culinary knowledge against him and make things into a contest, I could have told him that I actually happen to be a Johnson & Wales University Bachelor's degree graduated Chef myself. But I honestly wasn't interested in getting into a debate or argument with him, because I don't need him to try to tell me what's possible and what's not, since I already know better. Suffice to say: I don't think my family will be going back to eat here again anytime soon. We no longer trust the cleanliness and safety of the food handling. Definitely not worth the risk of getting so severely sick again and I can't say that I'll be recommending this restaurant to anyone I know anymore either.

Got a moldy tomatoes with one of the burgers, looks like quality control issue. Good thing i looked at it before putting it on the burger. The burgers were good though, i wish i could give them a better rating.
This has become a favorite place for a pleasant leisurely dining experience with good friends! Atmosphere is conducive to conversation and wait service, particularly Robert, has always been gracious and accommodating. Food is tasty and fairly priced!
