Clean, professional and tasty but could be more seasoned.
It was my first time visiting this place. It is located on Main Ave. which means parking isn't that great. I did see one handicap parking spot. I'm not sure if they have a parking lot behind the restaurant. Paula's is wheelchair accessible. The place was clean and the food was fresh.The staff weren't friendly at all . I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to ask more questions about some of the food I was interested in, but given the circumstances I didn't even bother.Would I recommend this place? In all honesty if you're the type of person that gets offended and you don't have thick skin NO I don't recommend this place. If you're the type of person that could care less who has an attitude and you just want some good Soul food GO for it!

Me and hubby made a special trip from another town to try this place. We were met with nothing but sullen faces , rude attitudes and scowls so this bi-racial couple took itself and our money elsewhere. The greasy looking food sweating away in the hot trays did not look very appetizing anyway so they ended up doing us a favor.
First time here at Paula's and the customer service was great ?, now to the food , after reading some of the other reviews I started not to come. But I saw you can't please everyone so let me go tried the food myself. It was everything and more. I have the Mac and cheese, BBQ pull chicken and yams. Yes I Drove from the The Bronx and was very pleased that I stopped and tried the food for myself and the customer service was on point. So people just go and try it for yourself and Don't go off others experience, maybe they where having a bad day already ?. But yes try it yourself.
Fish average. Collard greens, Mac n cheese, and potato salad were good. Shrimp was tasty too. Cornbread no taste at all. Ice tea was good. Customer service could be better you spend $50 a thank you or come again would be nice.
Don't let the pictures fool you, their food is HORRIBLE. I brought food from Paula's in Hackensack, NJ and the Mac &_Cheese was half cooked macaroni with Velveta cheese mixed in, the fish was fried so hard in meat inside was black and the skin was tough to pull apart and the cabbage was cooked like lasagna noodles. I spoke to the manager for a refund and until this day NO refund has been given as of yet.
My family has been coming to this establishment for years and when my mother-in-law came into town I wanted to take her somewhere local with good food, so Paula’s. We took the kids and decided to dine-in. My mother-in-law enjoyed her meal and started in on her dessert, a coconut-pineapple cake. Her face went blank after the first bite, and she was not pleased. She requested a refund for the cake which was about $7 of her $70 check total and was denied. The manager insisted that no one had ever complained about the cake and my mother-in-law was the first. She stated that if she issued her a refund she would have to issue one to everyone who complained about a piece of cake. I was so embarrassed and disappointed because I really talked this place up but NEVER again!! Customer satisfaction is NOT a priority here, if it were my mother-in-law would’ve gotten an apology, her refund, or a complimentary piece of cake or pie of her choice. My family will definitely be taking our black dollars to another black business that appreciates the support.
The food itself is really good and the restaurant is very clean. But If I have to be honest, it might be best to make least amount of contact with the counter person.
