Simply the best fried rice (especially young chow) and egg rolls ever. In 30 years I have never found another Chinese restaurant that even comes close. The pork ends in sweet soy glaze are also not to be missed, and again, very few other restaurants serve anything similar. Young Chow wonton soup is a meal in itself. Don't let the location and simple interior fool you, the food will not disappoint.Caveat: after reading some of the other reviews I have to add that I haven't eaten here in over a year. Apparently they have changed ownership, followed by a drop in food quality. I will go again and update this as appropriate.

The new ownership is horrible…I ordered the same thing as I have done in the past. The wontons were just dough and no meat in them. The shrimp with lobster sauce which before tasted fresh and just made, had no seasoning to it and was bland with no pork or anything. When I called to mention how horrible the food was, they asked me if I wanted to come back and they could make it again….or did I want my money back. They mentioned that the older people retired. The money wasn’t the problem. It was that the food was completely different from what I was used to and I thought that they should know how I felt about it. Needless to say, I will never order from there again.

I agree ?% with Kai Speed Shop.Mei Mei was the best in town delicious Chinese food, especially there egg rolls the best. Me and my family been a long time customer for years and never had any issues. I recently placed an order for pick up and when I got home to enjoy my meal the crabs stick tasted old, my beef lo mein had bad smell, tasted funny and was little slimy. I was upset, lost my appetite put everything back in the box to return the food. I then explained and told them this food is old and spoiled. She apologized and said do you want me to cook you new one? or you want your refund? I said No thank you just give me my refund. I will never go back disgusting experience. It’s definitely not the same and they don’t deserve the Mei Mei name??

NEW OWNERSHIP… went downhill in my opinion. I ordered Pork with garlic sauce, and it is mostly breading with tiny strips of pork. The pork was tender, but the dish was so spicy I couldn’t eat it. Also, the water chestnuts so tiny, I couldn’t pick them up with my fork… can’t imagine using chop sticks. Also got the Chicken chow mein and chicken was stringy, obviously frozen, and the chinese vegetables seemed liked lettuce and onions!! No mushrooms in either dish. The pork had the HUGE black hot peppers. Egg drop soup was super salty and more broth than egg pieces. Will only order from here again if someone else pays for it.

Mei Mei used to be the greatest example of Home made Chinese cuisine. The best comfort food in the neighborhood. We took pride in recommending it to friends and family. The original Mei Mei staff took pride in their craft. Serving people with great food and smiles. This new owners don’t deserve to keep the name. No one should spend their hard earned money on this place anymore. I encourage the new owners to change the name and stop fooling people based on old reviews and old pictures.

Loved this place all my life 40+ years. Was very disheartened 4 or so months ago when I picked up my order and saw none of the old familiar faces that used to greet me every time I went. I got home and the food was a complete disappointment. I read the current reviews and found that I was not the only one. There were the same complaints, the fried rice , the egg rolls etc.. The BBQ ribs (once the best around) were dry and had no sauce at all on them at all. The worst though was the spare ribs with black bean sauce. This was my favorite dish, small meaty chunks of ribs cooked in a rich thick garlic black bean SAUCE. What I got was rib soup, brown water with a couple of black beans floating in it, terrible. Someone in the reviews said to give them a chance (learning curve). Okay one month later I tried again, the fried rice was back as it should be, the ribs were better, but coated with a thick (brushed on, commercial ?) red BBQ sauce, not unacceptable, but not the original, not sticky, red sauce that was marinated into the meat, that made them the best around. Today I tried again. They forgot the white rice in my order (WHAT), the Young Chow Wonton Soup (only comes in large) now has two less Wontons, and the Ribs in Black Bean Sauce was worse than before. There were less ribs and they had less meat on them. They looked to be boiled in a brown water (again) with a few black beans and were tasteless and not edible. What a shame !

This one hurts. One of the legendary Chinese food establishments has new owners and they have destroyed everything that made Mei Mei great. They used to have the best egg foo young on the planet with a rich sweet brown sauce. Now the sauce tastes of nothing but weird flour and the omelette is over cooked and not fresh. Not to mention the dumplings, used to be plump, juicy with fresh herbs and now you get these flat, poorly cooked inedible garbage. It’s really a shame. Clearly the new owners have no passion and no skills

New owners - the food is definitely not the same an it troubles me to even write this. This place USE TO BE the Best period. Apparently the original owners sold the place after 30+ years. Very sad to get there legendary egg rolls an watch the new staff put it in the microwave. Unfortunately I will not be returning - Bring The Old Owners Back

I was a loyal customer of Mei Mei’s since 1979 and with the new owners I am sad to say that I will never go back again. To think that they were trained to make the dishes the way the original owners made them and they sold the recipes to them and then the new owners chose not to follow them is a travesty. The first thing I ordered (spicy beef ) I sent back and the second thing was just a standard beef and broccoli and it was not good (they changed the sauce ). The dumplings were nothing like what Mei Mei’s used to make, which was one of the best items on the menu with the garlic sauce! This place was the only place I would eat an eggroll… I thank God I didn’t order one of those! Once the new owners realize how much business they have lost, maybe they’ll wise up and start making the dishes the way all of us have enjoyed for almost 50 years!! WHY MESS WITH SOMETHING THAT WORKED FOR ALMOST A HALF A CENTURY? Shame on you ?
