When my brothers were kids, they would stop to eat at Hiram"s on their way back from Palisade's Amusement Park. My mom would always ask why. My brothers replied, "the food is better at Hiram's! When I worked for Thomas J. Lipton in Englewood Cliffs, my co-workers and I went to Hiram's for lunch often. I plan on going very soon! I so love Hiram's for the food and it's longevity.
Always a super stacked Chilli Dog. Serious beef. Good Luck with the parking and Cash only.
Its a cash only place $$ and no atm machines.Heads up ! We had to find an atm to get cash there was a valley bank next door and connect one bank ,both with $3 dollar fee to withdraw money just in case you are coming from another bank;but totally worth it.! I would definitely recommend this place. We ordered 2 chili cheeseburgers, 2 cheeseburgers, 2 chili hotdogs, 1 chili fries,1 cheese fries, regular fries and 3 drinks 3 coke and a water and everything Was only $40 ?great price and great food plus you get to eat outside in a picnic area where they have picnic tables. Overall worth the half hour drive for me will come back soon.
I’ve been going here since I was a little kid. I’ve lived 27 years on this planet and have eaten a LOT of hot dogs. This place has the best around, trust me. Simplicity is everything with this place.. get a hot dog or get a burger. It screams New Jersey.Birch beer is always delicious. I went there today with two friends and the service was quick, clean, and friendly. They know what they’re doing. I recommend to anyone looking for a good quick bite and make sure you get the birch beer.
Haven't been back since my burger was gritty as if it had fell on the floor and served! Yikes not first time:(...
Chili cheese hot dog was good. Nothing mind blowing, but it was a good hot dog. Their onion rings were extra crunchy and delicious! I would go back for the rings.
If you enjoy the finest in hot dog dining, New Jersey is rife with great places, and Hiram's is a must-visit. Inexpensive dogs (starting at $3.50, which includes regular steamed onions), pretty good fries, even hamburgers come off the grill here. Cheap beer by the bottle if that's your thing, too. The hot dogs are big, too - not a big casing snap like, say, Rutt's, but delicious, grilled to perfection. Nothing fancy, just great comfort food.It gets packed at lunch, no question. I've recently been on a Sunday early afternoon and a holiday Monday at 3pm. Both times, lots of folks waiting around two sides of the kitchen for their order, written on a paper plate, to be served up. We were about 12th on President's Day, for instance. The staff is super efficient, to the point where they will dress down any staff not pulling their weight. Dogs and fries seem to take less time, so you might skip past some patrons if you keep it simple. Add fried onions or chili or cheese for a bit extra if that's your thing, then dress your dogs with the counter condiments and head out to the yard to eat.The two of us got four dogs and an order of fries for $17.50, plus tip. That was more than enough to keep us satisfied the rest of the day. Absolutely worth the drive.
We saw this place had good reviews so we thought we’d give it a try. Let’s just say we didn’t feel so welcome, not sure if it’s because people there don’t look like us but let’s skip that part. We got their chili dogs, they don’t have hot onions. It was a hot dog, really not much to write about. We tried the onion rings and double cheese burgers, onion rings were great. We wouldn’t go back again. Chris’s Red Hots in Branch Brook park is by far the best we’ve had. Def not worth the trip and they are Cash only. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t worth the hype.
I was told so many times to come here after going to a lot of places in the Newark area, and now I know why. This place was fast, clean, fairly cheap, and excellent. One of my kids got a plain dog and the other got a dog with ketchup (sigh, kids) and I got one with brown mustard and saucy onions and another with chili. The onions in the sauce were one of the best i've had. Similar to the ones I make myself but mine have a bit more of a kick to them. The chili was a solid chili. No beans or any other trash that doesn't belong in a hot dog chili, and it had great body and flavor. The dogs were huge and fried perfectly. Great snap to them and awesome flavor. We will be back here for sure, especially since it was such a quick hop from here to MetLife so I can drown my sorrows in doggies after my Giants inevitably let me down anytime I go to the stadium.
