This review has been way long overdue, since I first tried this iconic pizzeria back in 2010 after asking a neighbor when first living in Elizabeth...who has the best pizza out here? Little did I know that my Polish neighbor at the time Jimmy, had recommended me to a masterpiece. Always fresh sauce, cheese, and seasoning. And, when you ask for well done...even the inner most though all the way to the crust is nice and crispy. Without question, "the best" in the NJ/NY area.
Whenever we are in the area we must get a classic half pepper and onion for my husband. It puts him in his happy place. Simply the best.
Real deal. Love seeing old school generational businesses get support. The pizza is so awesome. They make many different styles and I hope to try them all one day. Got a large pie for pick up and it was delicious. Their staff is friendly and the owner has a great sense of humor. Worth the trip.
You never had bread/crust like Santillos. Al is a master of his craft. The undercarriage is perfect. Just a phenomenal spot. A true NJ landmark.

We had never been to Santillos and were excited to try their pizza considering the great reviews by Dave P and others. We picked up two cheese pizzas last night- the pizzas were ok taste-wise - lots and lots of oregano. Later last night and into this morning, my family and I have been suffering from a violent stomach illness. Food poisoning is NOT something you ever want to deal with, and we never expected it from cheese pizzas. I hope Santillos sees this review and immediately gets their act together with respect to cleaning and safe food handling practices. Needless to say, we will never be back and recommend that everyone steer clear of this place.
Bought the 1964 it was thin how we like it! The flavor was amazing. Excited to try other versions soon!
Got the 1964 and it was okay. I think a plain cheese pie would’ve been better but overall great pie. The garlic bread with cheese however is next level. You can smell the garlic as soon as you get the box handed to you, crunchy outside soft and warm bread on the inside. Cheese was perfect on both pie and garlic bread. 9/10

Ordered here for the first time. Pizza was decent. I've had better pizza before though from other places.
