I have eaten here multiple times, and I have not been disappointed once. The food is top notch, and the servers are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere where the walls are lined with paintings and figurines reflecting Sri Lankan culture. As the only Sri Lankan restaurant in the North Edison area, this place is a must-check-out for anyone interested in learning about Sri Lankan food and culture.
We went there last night and it was totally empty.(Surprising thing to expect on a long weekend). The food we ordered was just ordinary (presentation, portion, taste etc). The place was cluttered and poorly decorated. Will be go back there again, I have doubts.
This restaurant serves a unique and amazing Sri Lankan cuisineThe Sting appams are awesome, perfectly cooked and fresh all the time.In fact every dish is here is made freshVery good food
We celebrated my son's birthday at Sigiri in NYC, We were thankfully able to get a table without waiting. The decorations in the restaurant created a real Sir Lankan experience. There were reed baskets or hats on the ceiling, carved wooden pieces between pictures on the walls, and a beautiful mask like decoration over the kitchen. The waitress was from Sri Lanka and enthusiastically shared information about the culture and the menu items, giving recommendations. I chose Kotthu Roti as I don't tolerate black pepper and spicy food. A wonderful choice with enough to share and take home. We shared the Appetizer Sampler , with each of the four of us liking something different from the plate. One chose mild chicken curry and found that a bit spicy. Two chose Mixed Seafood Special which takes 30 minutes to prepare. After about 30 minutes, the waitress told us that the chef couldn't make the dish because of a lack of 2 ingredients. It would have been nice if the chef had realized that when the dish was ordered. Crab Curry was then chosen, also a 30 minute prep item. However, even though it was a tasty choice, there wasn't much crabmeat in it. We shared beef stew which was excellent and an order of red rice. I had a cup of Sri Lankan plain tea at the end which I enjoyed. The waiter and waitress sang Happy Birthday to our son with mango ice cream and a lit candle. A really nice gesture. We would gladly go back to enjoy another meal and try other menu items. Another plus was a bathroom at the back of the restaurant rather than having to descend steep stairs as in some NYC places.
Good place for people who want to try Sri Lankan cuisine. Kothu roti is a must try
It is my first time to try food from a country name Sri Lanka and I was very surprised the food was excellent. The Mutton curry is so different from Muglia curry, it is not so oily and not so strong in spice flavors. The othe item is the Chicken Lamprais I tried which was quite unique in presentation; whole dish wrapped in green banana leaf. Inside is interesting items like chicken, boiled egg, a round ball like aloo chap, vegetable. The lamprais was good. I am glad I found this exotic ethnic food and I wouldn't mind coming back. The restaurant is medium size, sits 9 table, interior was clean. This place deserve my 5 stars.
Authentication Srilankan cuisine, friendly owners, beautiful ambiance.
The egg biryani is an absolute piece of junk ..!! With raw potatoes.., this place used to be good back in the day I don’t know what happened i ordered Aapam and it’s absolutely dry …. I highly recommend you get a chef who knows how to cook food … and not just any Daymn food but good authentic food … this is just garbage what we are paying for
Fast service, really good food. A good way to get introduced to Sri Lankan cuisine if you’ve never had it before.
Came for dine in for dinner on a Sunday night. It is a small space (bigger than the NYC location) but we were able to sit comfortably distanced from other diners. Absolutely delicious food, with a small area for Sri Lankan groceries in the back. If you’ve been to the NYC location, the spice levels here are different and more mild. Very friendly waiter who made me feel so welcomed and right at home. I recommend you try the chicken kottu and the mutton rolls if you get the chance.
