Steak cuts are quality, but the kitchen can't cook. Table smelled of stale beer and the server was as bland as their mashed potatoes.
Was seated for 20 minutes not one waiter or waitress came to our table. When we got up we passed the seating hostess, she said, "I hope you enjoyed you meal have a great night." I said to her, "You just seated us 20 minutes ago and no one came to our table to even take our drink order." She was completely dumbfounded. Never said I'm so sorry or even tried to get us to stay. They weren't that busy. No reason to not acknowledge us.
I had not been here in quite a few years and BOY have they changed for the worst! Their rundown appearance wasn’t even the issue at all because some of the best foods can be found in so called “holes in the wall restaurants.” Copy paper menu’s was what they handed us after they walked us to our table (I would have preferred a barcode scanned menu). The service wasn’t good at all. We felt like the waitress had no choice than to work there waiting tables. She didn’t seem to care if we were satisfied or not and we weren’t. I asked for a medium rare steak and it was served medium well and my grilled asparagus were over cooked and droopy (I didn’t complain). My friend’s mashed potatoes weren’t even warm (they didn’t even complain). Overall, pricey for the quality and service. Never again. So sorry we made that choice.
First visit was the opening week of 2022 when getting a bite with a neighbor and friend. The Del Monico was surprisingly lean for that type of cut. I was expecting more fat through the meat, but the meat had great flavor, was very tender, and again leaner than expected. The fat marbling was more similar to a Ribeye than a Del Monico, but still had all the tenderness and taste. Winning!!!The mashed potatoes on the other hand was awful and just shy of uneatable. They had the consistency of freshly mashed potato mixed with INSTANT! Think instant potato that wasn't mixed well and having a consistency of dried powdered flakes. Pass on the mashed. It was gross. (A steakhouse that can't make a good mashed is as bad as a steakhouse that doesn't offer creamed spinach and theirs isn't creamed, just sauteed).Also, if you call yourself a steakhouse, then please teach your servers how to properly describe the difference of steak cuts other than, "it's better" and "one of them has more fat" but cannot indicate which one.I'd go there again, but it's only after trying other recommended places first.Yes, 4 stars even with the shortcomings. The restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms. The staff was attentive even if they weren't informative. The bar wasn't depressing, didn't smell like week old beer, and had enough screens to have multiple games/programs playing conveniently for everyone to watch. Location and onsite parking was good. Having glass/plexi between bar and restaurant seating was great. It allowed folks in the dining area to still watch the screens without being inundated by the loudness of the bar crowd. The steak was that much better than most in the same price group. It was properly cooked to the ordered temperature even if the server had no idea what the temperature of black and blue meant. Hint: Black and blue is different than simply rare. I'm glad your grill guy knew.
Very welcoming atmosphere. I have only been here for lunch but it is very relaxed and they don’t rush you. The burgers are delicious!
This has been a staple in Clifton for decades. A great place to gather before and after games for sure. Amazing steaks with great service by local the community. Been a while since my last visit, but I will be back again for a yearly reunion with some of the Best Coaches in Clifton.
Big place and looks nice and clean ,with a great big bar. Have to come back for the food. To be continued. Second visit and tries some wings . Delicious and plentiful, with nice blue cheese with chunks. Friendly staff,can't wait to come back with family and friends for Dinner.
I call this marvelous restaurant from time to time since I love the special air that is outline this place. The crew is extremely helpful and experienced. The service is absolutely rapid. Needless to say, the food you eat is highly distinguished. I came more than once and I was always joyful. The pay is fair. I highly suggest this restaurant to to all.
This place was one of my favorite restaurants, but unfortunately not anymore !!Besides, noisy and waiters are so rude & unprofessional, the guy we had today was very low and indecent for such place.My friend ordered his drink, he answered him; NO, we do not do that, however; he always had his drink in there, and that’s why we go there. Food and salad took forever to come.My meat , I wanted it well done, it was raw, not even cooked the way I want it to be.For such waste of time I had to pay $101,25Then the worse part was, the waiter dared to ask; where’s tip ? No tip, why ? If no tip, do not come again !!Then he chased me to the parking spot and was screaming threatening us in front of people.I always tipped when I get what I want..but !!An advise to the owner; if you wanna keep the business going, make sure you hire right people.
This place overall is decent, but it's more tavern / sports bar than an actual steakhouse --- so just taper your expectations --- it doesnt come with all of the bells and whistles of an actual steakhouse. This place is pretty casual and they keep it pretty simple ---- eat, drink, laugh and go home. Great place to get together with friends and family either large or small. The food is good and the prices $$$ are reasonable so give this a try ---
