We were so excited to get takeout from this place after seeing the reviews, the rating and amount of stars. We are all native NYers and great food of all types, well NY is king hands down. However, we now live in NC and we have been able to find a couple of good fried seafood takeout places that are really good. The food was fresh but there were a couple of serious issues that caused me to only give 3 stars. The coleslaw is very important to us. Wherever we go we compare the coleslaw. Not only was it nothing special, it was not enjoyable at all. As a matter of fact, I didn’t eat it after the first taste. I was so excited to see hush puppies on the menu since my husband loves a good hush puppy. They were TERRIBLE. The chef literally needs a lesson on a good hush puppy. It almost seems like he’s never had one and therefore has no idea how they should taste. We took the first bite and put the rest in the garbage. Fish and shrimp were good (not amazing), but fresh and good. But, it was not a complete meal since we didn’t eat the coleslaw nor the hush puppies. If they improve the coleslaw and go on YouTube to learn how to make a hush puppy which should have a bit of a sweet taste and not dry cornmeal, it would help tremendously.

The food is always great and service is top notch, friendly and fast! The crab cake sandwich was amazing and also got fish tacos and shrimp tacos .... WOW SO GOOD! After indulging in every last bite I was so satisfied and wanted more even though I was stuffed. One of my favorite places to go too. The outdoor seating area is peaceful as well.
The best flounder sandwich I've ever had and the best Crab cakes wow amazing food great service. Will definitely eat here again before I'm finished working out here.
Read the reviews on Barbera Seafood so needed to check it out. It was well worth the trip. We had the soft shell crabs and they were tasty and well worth the price (which was not expensive)!
My husband and I really enjoyed the food. Great prices! We definitely recommend this place if you was bang for your buck.
Visited Dominic's establishment a couple of times before a family trip to AC this summer for mom's birthday and took two dozen cooked crabs back to the hotel room. Be aware that it is a local fresh seafood market which also serves broiled and fried fare mostly and has a very unassuming charm. Being there before, I added in some clams and sea bass sandwiches to the order and man did we feast! All raved about the quality of the seafood and I found the prices so reasonable. Staff was very courteous and informative as they allowed us to take time placing the order. I would say order early as they close the kitchen an hour or so before 5pm and items like the crabs I recommend be ordered in advance. Pickup from their garden window was painless. I enjoy finding spots off the beaten path when I travel and this is going to be my go to place whenever I'm in AC for the quick bite! What a find! Can't wait to try the scallops next trip!
Went to a hotel an over priced hotel restaurant the night before and ordered fish that was not good at all. The next day I went to the outlets to shop and saw Barbera Seafood. Still in the mood for seafood I ordered trout that was so fresh and good it is hard to write about because I am 3 hours away and just thinking about it makes me hungry.
Super friendly! Super Fresh! Super inexpensive! Everything was so flavorful and well prepared. Hubby enjoyed the $4.95 flounder sandwich and we shared the $14.95 combo that included a huge portion of fries, slaw, fish, shrimp, scallops and a crab cake. Dominic was very engaging and friendly. This made the drive to the area so worth it!
This is a fish store that serves fresh fried and broiled seafood. The food was excellent and the people were very nice. The prices are very reasonable. We went on a nice day and sat outside. It couldn’t have been better. I highly recommend them.
