My family and I just left the Borgata after a quick getaway to AC. I read excellent reviews about Izakaya and we went here for a Father’s Day dinner. We were greeted and quickly seated in a comfy booth. We had 5:15 reservations and there were only a few other folks in the restaurant. A gentleman immediately came over and poured water for us - he was very attentive throughout our time there. Our server Dan was friendly and prompt. As the reviews expressed, the soup dumplings were tasty. We also tried the crispy rock shrimp. Also very tasty. Other dishes we tried were the salmon sushi, robotayaki chicken and soy ginger salmon. Their portions are small and their prices are a tad high for the serving size. The shrimp fried rice was quite bland too. I didn’t enjoy it enough to return but because I enjoyed the environment, service, and a few of the menu items, I’m giving it a good rating.
My girl took me for a Birthday dinner and let me tell you it didn't disappoint ? service is what you'd expect from a restaurant of this quality ? . The food was amazing to say the least and the ambiance is the icing on the cake! This is an experience we will definitely be back for! 5 ? experience
Every aspect of our dinner was EXCELLENT from the service to drinks to dessert. Michael was our server and I would request him again 100%. He was friendly, super attentive, and knowledgeable. His drink recommendations were spot on! I had the Lychee martini. It was not too sweet and just perfect. We opted for the tasting menu. Every bite was delicious. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the courses came out too fast. I prefer a slower dining experience but I understand not everyone feels that way. We asked Michael to slow it down and he was more than happy to accommodate our request. I am a really tough critic (especially at this price point). With all the dining options in Atlantic City I would consider this a “must do”.
Food is great and waiter service matched the great food. Front desk lady needs a new job or was having a bad day cause she looked upset being there and seated us without saying enjoy. We were thinking of asking for a different spot, but she was gone before we could turn around. I made sure she hear me say “not that she cares”. Nonetheless, we always enjoy our time there. Everything is delicious. One thing I don’t like is people were having dinner with tank tops and flip flops. This isn’t a beach casual place to eat. It’s inside a casino. Put on a shirt with sleeves and some shoes. I was wearing jeans and a golf shirt and felt like I was over dressed. The restaurant should be a little more strict on dress code. At least Shorts and a shirt and sneakers. Grown man wearing a tank top and flip flops in a dark ambience setting is terrible.
The lone bright spot in an otherwise very mediocre trip to The Borgata/Water Club. Our server Mike was excellent and his service was superlative, especially compared to the service we had at other parts of the resort (Looking at you Borgata Beer Garden) The drinks were excellent and the fixed price menu Mike suggested for us was absolutely delicious and hit almost all of the items we would have wanted to try anyway. It was the perfect amount of food. Can’t wait to come back.
Izakaya is great spot for a party of any size. The Japanese style "tapas" menu lets everyone try whatever they're craving that night. As a whiskey drinker I like the collection of high end Japanese whiskey offerings across different price ranges. 5/5 rating for this place - my only complaint is that they tend to run out of products/food pretty frequently.
First time dining at Izakaya. Love the dark, romantic ambiance. Service was attentive, polite and very professional. We ordered from the Tasting Menu. We absolutely love everything they brought out. Very tasty, yet delicate and mild. All the meals were sized appropriately. We look forward to dining at Izakaya again.
Besides our appetizer the food was awesome. We ordered the albacore tuna tataki , it was sooo small. Service was really good. The Big Eye tuna roll was fantastic.
Izakaya is traditionally “Japanese pub food”. This was more “inspired” by an Izakaya but it’s not super traditional. Which I get, you need to appeal to a broader audience when you’re located in a casino. But as a Japanese, when they mix in Chinese dishes or other Asian inspired food but pass it off as Japanese, it’s slightly annoying. The place was packed and food was prompt but our waiter needed to check-in a bit more often. The Robtayaki (grilled skewers) are pretty legit and I would be adventurous and order off the menu vs the “tasting menu”. It was quite delish!
Beautiful spot, very kind hostess.Hard working bartender yetIffy bar service as he was not atentive Sadly, the food did not meet the expectations as the taste were wanky.Got food poisoning from the dishes, all night had been sick.Ordered from the special dish menuPresentation was niceWaiter messed up our order refusing to acknowledge that we were waiting on the Yellowtail sushi, didn't call last call so when we set the second half of our order he gave the cold shoulder not to put in an order.Ribs were cold, lacked flavor(Pork not beef which isn't mentioned on menu)Split one with my colleague we both disliked the dise leaving two pieces to wasteFried chicken was very good. Best thing out of all the options we triedSushi had a funky strange smoke taste that didn't that didn't feel good eating as the smell/tasye was overpoweringThe beef skewers was overcooked and tasted like a moist slab of leatherChicken wings were good. Great consistency, flavor was a bit off tho
