The food was delicious! We had the rib-eye special and some seafood starters. We also had dessert and it was THE BEST vanilla ice cream I have ever had!

Our waitress Izzy was top notch!!! She was knowledgeable, attentive and very personable. The atmosphere and food were good but she made it a “great” experience.

Food was good. Service was quick.

Our son wanted a seafood dinner before he is off to his freshman year at college so we decided on The Bonney Read. We had a reservation and sat right away. However it was almost. 15 minutes before someone came over with water and to take a drink order. I don’t think she was our server but she ended up taking care of us the rest of the night and did a great job. The appetizers were good, the teriyaki steak tip special appetizer was delicious and the salad as well and plenty to share. My husband order3 the mussels for dinner and they were very good and a huge portion. My son had the Cajun shrimp which he devoured. I ordered the fresh catch of the day, Mahi, and was disappointed. It was over cooked and a bit fishy. Overall we were happy with the experience and will return.

Waitress was slow. Waited 10 minutes for her to greet us and caught an attitude when we told her we’d like to not be rushed. Shrimp cocktail was served before our drinks. The bus boy cleared our salad we were still working on. The wait staff congregated outside behind our table. The hostess sat down on the curb and chatted with 2 waitresses beside our table. Some of the steamed clams had been forced open, we didn’t touch them. The crispy fish tacos were far from crispy, they were oily and heavy. The only thing enjoyable was the dinner rolls. We won’t be returning.

Great food and the best service!!!

Great location, nice space, nice raw bar and menu options, good drinks and decent seafood. I say decent because it was basic seafood, nothing fancy or upscale. Service was mixed... hostess talking with coworker and took a bit to acknowledge us. Waiter was attentive but had to ask busser to have appetizer plates cleared. Table had some crumbs on it when we sat. Bottles of tap water for the table were warm. I thought the bill was high for what we got (close to $400 after tip for lunch for 5 with 8 drinks, 3 apps, 1 small plate, 2 orders or tacos, fried clam strips, a lobster roll) but prices probably up with inflation. Annoying that we asked for more bread with the mussels appetizer, and they charged us for a side of bread.

Amazing food and service! I loved how there was so much outdoor seating available. The oysters, fish and chips, shrimp and fish tacos were very yummy. The seafood and drink menu were impressive.. I’m excited to come back and try more of the menu! This is a great place to come with a large group of friends.

Ideal seafood restaurant in the heart of Asbury Park's buzzy business district. Bright and lively. Great spot for lunch. Friendly and attentive staff. Perfect beach eats vibe.We shared the fried shrimp and fried fish meals. Both were good, fresh, clean and flavorful. Fish was haddock and the batter had a subtle taste of sweet yellow curry that was a pleasant surprise.

We recently went to The Bonney Read for dinner since we were in the Asbury area. It was during the week when the place was not as crowd as it was on the weekend during our last visit. Our waitress Meghan was very pleasant and attentive to our table even as her station became more crowd. As it was two years ago, the food is still very fresh and extremely tasty. I had their salmon special and my husband had the grouper off the menu. Oh by the way if you enjoy New England Clam Chowder, be sure to order it with your meal while there, it was DELICIOUS.
