Ugh....I'm hesitant to write this but I feel I must in the hopes that the Smith group reads it. Let me also start by saying I really don't understand the other reviewers even mentioning or comparing Homesick to the prior establishment Brickwall. That would be like comparing Nettie's in Asbury to the Luigi's that was there before. Silly. I was excited to have dinner here (I've had lunch, which was good) as Homesick is part of the Smith group which owns Porta and Pascal and Sabine - two of my absolute favorite places in Asbury. Service was somewhat slow but being foodies (the group I ate with also) we understand the hiring environment is tough so we had no problem with the wait as we could see (or believe) they might be short staffed based on the number of tables our young server had. Food - We ventured and ordered the crispy chicken skin with creme fraiche Andrew caviar. PLEASE take this off the menu. It was horrific. A big skin, drenched in grease with maybe a dollop of creme on top and 6 caviar eggs (yes, I counted). We took one bite and left the rest. Our server too it off our bill which I am not a fan of, I mean I ordered it right? Not necessarily their fault we didn't like it. I assume someone out there likes it and the Smith group MUST have tried it and said it was good? Maybe? We ordered the strawberry salad, pedestrian at best. The steak was ordered, $52 14 ounce. Grizzle and fat everywhere. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm OK with that if it was $25, but not at $52. Side of carrots, excellent. Flounder, good, as was the Salmon, but pricey. Sooooo what next? I'm going back to give it another go with different dishes and hopefully up the stars, because I really want them to succeed, but to be more like Pascal and Sabine and Porta as it relates to food quality and choice. And again, I reiterate, take the crispy chicken skin off the menu.....
Amazing spot in Asbury. We had lunch but we're going back for dinner because the food was soooo good. They have a big menu with plenty of different options for everyone....I highly recommend this spot
Was not impressed. Really only ended up there because it was the only place in downtown with bar seating available on a Saturday night (we literally tried every other bar in downtown first, they were all packed, and now I see why this place was not full). Food was tolerable. The butternut squash and sage risotto tasted fine, but the butternut squash was undercooked and hard. The cocktails were not great. The whole atmosphere just feels very “instagramable”, like they’re trying too hard. The owners never should have rebranded Brickwall. Why change an Asbury staple that everyone loved? If you’re going to ruin a classic, at least make it good.
Former Brickwall. The menu is not geared toward quick bites. Brisket nachos were good. The burger was messy and pickle was dry.The live music Duo were really good though.
Came for brunch on a Sunday at 10:30am. We had a reservation but there were plenty of seats at this time. It started to fill up as it got later around 11:30 or so. The food was great, the portions were generous and filling and there was even a live jazz band which was wonderful! Definitely would recommend this spot for brunch.
We had an early dinner here while traveling home from Thanksgiving with our 5 month old. It was delightfully quiet, with just a few other tables and people at the bar, an acoustic duo setting up in the corner. Management, service and food were all 10/10. The duck sandwich alone is worth going for!
The food is so good!! Highly recommend and great service
Unimpressive food. Overpriced. Soggy fries.Decent atmosphere, waitress was nice. But you go to a restaurant for food, and the food didn't cut it. Disappointed.
This was a great new place that opened 3 months ago.Staff were super friendly and attentive which made the experience that much better. The pork chop was large and tender! Swordfish fresh and delicious. The sauce used on the dishes really brought each to the next level.
Second visit. First time shared numerous small plates. Second time each had a small plate and an entree. Really enjoyed both. Excellent cocktails too.
