This place is like no other in Portsmouth. The atmosphere is fun and energetic. The music and bar scene is pretty fun! Drinks are on another level of amazing. Drinks and cocktails you never hear before. They bring a new pizzazz!
The Wilder was recommended to us by a local. Locals know where to go, people! This bar had amazing, original cocktails and great appetizers. Our server was knowledgeable about the drinks and also gave us suggestions of places to visit while in town.
Our bartender was awesome, I would highly recommend this bar, a little hidden, you may walk right by, but the craft cocktails you need to seek out. Wonderful atmosphere.
Average food, amazing cocktails. What you're seeing here is the chickpea burger. It was good, but they serve it on a baguette, it's kinda dry, and the fries were dry. Next pic is our first round of shaken cocktails: the mezcal and the sake ones. The mezcal was killer.
We had our wedding reception at the Wilder and had could not be more happy with how the day went. The food was amazing, the personalized drinks were a huge hit, and the staff were impeccable with timing and service. The space is not a traditional wedding venue, but the team helped us create the perfect flow for the night. Whether you are looking to host an event or just looking for amazing food and drink, you will be very happy here!
The food was good. I had the beef pirogies which were amazing! I just wish there was more than two. The fried chicken is good but there is a lot of garlic n salt. The restaurant was nice and the staff was friendly. I would come again.
My wife and I ate at this restaurant several years ago and had a very good experience, so were looking forward to having a similar experience once again. Unfortunately, this was not to be. We ordered cauliflower gratin and smoked salmon pate for appetizers, and for entrees, my wife ordered salmon and I ordered clams and chorizo. When the appetizers arrived the smoked salmon was so over smoked that it was impossible to actually taste anything but the smoke. And, rather than getting a cauliflower dish that had cheese flavor, and a lightly browned crust, like, oh I don't know, a cauliflower gratin, we received a dish of lukewarm cauliflower, with no cheese taste, floating in a pool of water. We brought this to the attention of one of the servers and he came back with someone that I assume was a manager. She apologized for the dish, told us that she would take it off of our bill, and hoped that the rest of our meal went better for us. Apparently she was not all that concerned because she never came back to check on us. Regarding the entrees, my wife's salmon was cool to the touch, skimpy in portion and sitting on a small handful of root vegetables. As far as my clams and chorizo were concerned, lets be serious. I understand that restaurants have to make money but, when I can got to the store and buy clams for under $0.75 a piece, they can certainly afford to put more than 5 or 6 on a $31.00 dish. And when an ingredient is in the name of the dish, like the chorizo was, you should be able to find traces of it in the dish. When my wife asked about a side dish that was on the menu in the past. our server told us that they have a new Executive Chef so the dishes are different. My advice, if this is what the kitchen is putting out, find a new Executive Chef. There are too many good places to eat in Portsmouth to spend your money here.
Great vibe great drinks great food. Poutine and chicken basket were amazing. Tiki drinks were fun. Ladies room had cool wallpaper.
Excellent food, creative drinks. Fried chicken bucket is so, so good - but the plate it comes in is really too big... Takes up half of a 4 top table... Even servers commented on how obnoxiously big it is. BUT, would get it again every time because the fried chicken is that good.
Tasty food and spiffy cocktails, good for a date night! We came here for restaurant week and had a good time, though nothing extraordinary. The watermelon salad appetizer was packed with flavor and very beautifully arranged. The white pizza app was also really good, just the right amount of cheese. For entrees, my favorite was the pork shank, which is this huge bone-in tender piece of meat, with an incredible apple sauce! The lobster risotto was good too, but nothing compared to the shank. For dessert, we had the creme brulee, which was way too sweet for my taste, but my husband enjoyed it. Overall a good experience and attentive service.
